Are we going to be getting flying in the new zones in BFA? I haven't heard much about it and honestly this time around I don't mind not having it. The islands seems small enough to traverse around without flying. I just hope if they do give us flying there, that they don't make a long !@# achievement about it. I would much rather just help them will all their problems and then get flying, or just be able to buy it at max level. Tell me your thoughts and such.
They've already said Pathfinder will be the de facto means to attain flying going forward. As for how long it will take..... that's up in the air, all they have said is the timing was off in Legion.
I assume there will be another Pathfinder achievement. I would like to think it becomes achievable once we reach max level and fill the other requirements, rather than some arbitrary moment a few months after the first post-expansion patch, but I'm not that optimistic.
According to Alpha Testers and Actual fact, both islands combined are almost as big as WoD. And in Alpha, it's already beating all of the Legion zones combined.
So yes, Flying will be implemented.

Pathfinder like Legion, similar timeframe. That's what we are getting.

Maybe 6 months (give or take) after expansion launch.

That might be a minority opinion. I hate not having it.

Now you're straight clowning.
Ladies and gentlemen, Xenokro. He'll be here all week.
bend over for Pathfinder !
I prefer Pathfinder achievements over paying 5k gold again and again on every toon. It's usually stuff we'd be inclined to do anyway.

I don't...dislike the results of the Pathfinder achievement. In fact, I very much like that my main can push through Pathfinder and my alts can fly from the moment they hit current content.
What I dislike about Pathfinder is that it's a constantly moving target, and Blizz can just keep revamping it to delay giving us flight. If Pathfinder for each expansion was a set goal of "explore your faction's zones, get to honored/revered with your reputation factions, complete a quest chain to unlock", it would be different. But since Pathfinder is re-invented with every expansion, can have as many parts as they want, and then still doesn't give us flight until they decide it's time to flip the switch, I can't help viewing it as a potential backdoor to just removing current-and-future content flight completely, the way they wanted to do in WoD.
Personally I have no issue with the idea of Pathfinder.
However, I have a major problem with the time gating of it we had in Legion.
8+ months is WAY too long to wait, in addition, part 1 should have awarded flight in the initial Legion zones, with part 2 awarding flight in Broken Shore.

Thanks for clearing some things up for me. Guess I was more ignorant on the topic than I thought lmao. Now that you mention the size of the islands I can see that yes, I would even want flying 100%. But I really hope, as you guys said, they don't make it available months after release like legion. <3
You probably won't see flight until the last patch of the expansion or immediately before releasing a no-fly zone. That seems to be the way they're doing it now.
I know I enjoy legion content so much more now that I am not fighting with mazey terrain. Also one of the reasons I avoid argus is I can't fly there.
Just remember flying was never an issue until the current devs made it an issue. I don't recall ever hearing people complain that they could fly once they hit max level.

Pa6ch 8.2, bank on it.
So, 7-8 months after release.

I know they used Pathfinder as a gating mechanic to keep people playing longer, but honestly, I spend more hours in-game now that I can easily get from place to place. And I play the alts I neglected while they were grounded.
You know.. if Blizzard did away with pathfinders, and made the amount to unlock flying on par with current inflation ... people would complain that Blizzard was just trying to sell tokens. It would NOT be 5k gold per toon. It would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 50k at minimum).
Basically they can't win, no matter what they do.
About the only thing that I'd like them to do, is put the parts in game @ BFA launch and then let players fly whenever they've unlocked those requirements, rather than some arbitrary decision 6 months in.
