Since I’ve been gone, I’ve played mostly single players games. Recently got lost in the Elden Ring world. Never played a souls game before, but my son had it on PS5 so I gave it a go. Got wrecked early on with starter zone enemies, and frustrated. But got hooked.
I have since purchased it on Steam including the DLC, and have over 500 hours. I’ve defeated the entire game 4 times, and have most of the achievements outside of the Frenzied Flame ending (can’t bring myself to do it) and recently started a game as a Confessor and restricting myself to only the default loadout, sans incantations and talismans.
Confessor with the Broadsword and incantations is really strong. Square Off is almost broken, but I’ve been able to defeat every boss up to now and I am level 116.
I am now at the Godskin Duo boss fight, which is pretty terrible IMO, but I stopped and went to go play with Melania. Managed to get her to Phase 2, but she is still so difficult without my buddy Mimic Tear (which I’ve not been using any summons this run).
Anyway, that’s what I’ve been playing. How about you?
Mostly indies / AAs lately. I’ve been trying to diversify because I find myself getting exhausted with WoW, but gradually losing interest FPS or Soulslike games which are usually my go-tos when I’m not in Azeroth.
A few of the recent indie games / AAs I’ve completed this year that I really loved are:
- Blasphemous (side scrolling action RPG)
- Ghostrunner / Ghostrunner II (First-Person ninja action game)
- Loop Hero (auto battling board game where you interact with the game by placing pieces on the board / loop to completely change how the run progresses)
- Dark Deity II (Classic Fire-Emblem like strategy RPG)
- Mullet Madjack (aesthetic FPS roguelike)
- No-Skin (turn-based atmospheric roguelike)
- Tactical Breach Wizards (tactics RPG with wizards with staff-guns)
- Antonblast (Wario World-esque platformer)
- The Thaumaturge (Isometric narrative driven RPG)
I picked up Thaumaturge on sale during the last Steam event. It’s on my backlog.
