I mained a GM hunter from Vanilla, then swapped to a Deathknight when WoTLK came out. Then swapped to the DH when legion came out. I used to love the DK but having the worst mobility in the game really killed the class for me. I still play my Hunter, DK, Ret Pally and Warrior some but they for me just don’t cut it. I will main my DH until I quit or the game ends.
I played an Alliance CatBear Druid since TBC (Cat added in Wrath). Always wanted to play on Horde, BE specifically. Additionally, I have a huge soft spot for everything TBC which is what DHs/Illidari have in spades.
The mobility/playstyle is what got me hooked. Double jump makes things like Pathfinder, Nazjatar and Stormheim very easy (though admittedly a druid’s stealth achieves similar ease). Perks are the cool customization. I like the Horde better so I mostly play my DH.
Recently rolled a Monk though (WW/BM) and LOVING it. I like my paladin here too but it’s boring.
Idk why people rag on DHs for being easy. They definitely are but I personally welcome more buttons, more complexity and a 3rd spec. The class just feels like a modern class unlike druid and paladin which are static AF in comparison.
In my ideal world, we’d get some more buttons, a 3rd spec (support), and OG classes would be made more dynamic and engaging.
Well sheet I read OP’s question totally wrong too. Apologies.
Xaedys as usual makes a strong argument. One that is hard to debate tbh. But since Illidan was from a Druid background I think his anger caused him to seek an amalgamation of many forms in order to defeat his perceived enemy. Lore does say he experimented and sacrificed his own peeps to grow strong and get meaner. Mages, Warlocks and Warriors all would have added some of the elements he would need to become the perfect fighter. Some Druid type self heals thrown in. Kind of a hodge-podge of bits n pieces of a lot of classes.
Illidan was a mage, not a druid. It’s Malfurion that’s the druid.
Got me again Xaedys. I stand corrected.
