But not on gauntlets or boots?
You mean to tell me a system that can be built for housing, TMOG, big sentient black holes bigger than Stormwind (for a phase) and large, swooping landscapes is incapable of having asymmetrical gauntlets and/or boots the same way we can do shoulderpads?
I call shenanigans!

Unfortunately that’s a limitation of the game.
You see, an armor piece’s appearance is divided into two bits. A texture that’s applied to your character, and the 3D geometry (with it’s own texture).
So while we can have asymmetrical 3D geometry on the armor, as we’ve had before, we can’t have asymmetrical textures.
That’s because any texture from the head down in our characters is mirrored. Ages ago when WoW was being made, they decided to use this trick to save space and make the game lighter.
Have you ever noticed that all Tabard symbols are symmetric? Even the Horde tabards, despite the fact that the Horde Symbol is not supposed to be symmetric lol
To fix this, Blizzard would have to remake the UVs of every single model that can use armor, and then remake the textures of all the armor pieces in the game, as well as the textures of those characters’ skins to fit the new UVs.
That would be a lot of effort that could have been spent on literally anything else and it would balloon the size of the game, so probably not worthy it.
Who the heck said that. It just hasn’t been done yet.
if thats the case… then how the unique glove transmogs that have different appearences do work? like the trial of valor mail set gloves

The armor pieces are not the same as the model.
Took the words right out of my mouth.
You can have the 3D bits be different, but the texture painted on the model will have to be the same.
As I said, there’s two components to an armor piece. Only one of those components is a problem.
To illustrate, I loaded the ToV Mail Gloves into the Wowhead Dressing Room as a Human and a Vrykul. The Human has the 3D bits, but Blizzard never made the 3D version for Vrykuls so they don’t have them.
As you can see, when the 3D bits are removed, the texture underneath is the same.
