Yes, because your proposal overestimates the amount of work it will take to revamp Beast Mastery from Ranged to Melee; it is never as simple as changing one ability. Besides…
You’re conflating Specialization with Spec Identity Expression; the themes within the Spec itself. Blizzard has already made 4 competing Expressions within Survival:
- Beast-synergy (Kill Command, the very first node)
- Raptor Strike (Melee)
- Wildfire Bomb (Explosives)
- And Boomstick (Firearms)
The issue I have, and I feel this is the same issue many players have, is Blizzard forcing all 4 Expressions to be mandatory when we really want them as opt-in. We do not want Raptor Strike, Wildfire Bomb, and Boomstick all to be sitting in the 1st Talent Tier and would rather have them in the 2nd or 3rd Talent Tier. This way:
- All 4 Identity Expressions still co-exist.
- Players can choose their flavor of Survival Hunter.
We’re not talking about my ideal fantasy spec. We are talking about what already exists. Think of it like a face-down trident… the Talent Tree I mean:
- Left side of the fork: Explosives (I will avoid this side).
- Center of the fork: Melee and Beast Synergy; primitive and ignores technology (My Rexxar identity).
- Right side of the fork: Firearms (I will avoid this side too).
Again, the issue is: Blizzard introduces all three identity expressions as mandatory investments before the player has the opportunity to pick for themselves. This naturally creates friction between players who all share the Survival Spec, but want to express its identity differently. So, when we ask for talent identities to be moved for better player agency over the themes Blizzard themselves have presented, and you reply with:
You’re side-stepping my argument.
- We are not talking about 40 Specs, just one: Survival.
- Blizzard has rearranged and swapped talent nodes and clusters in the past; Primal Surge is a good example, as it is being moved from 3rd Tier Talents to I think 2nd Tier Talents with the upcoming Season 2 of Midnight.
I don’t understand why you’re refusing to acknowledge the Rexxar fantasy when elements of it already exist within Survival. ![]()
Either way, I have said my piece. I think rearranging a room (Survival spec) is easier than refurnishing a room (Beast Mastery spec) to match the other.
