I’m not sure. Maybe
Although if their goal was to make illidan better idk if they hit the mark. By the end of legion I didn’t think he was cool, I was honestly just tired of hearing his cringy edgelord voice.
Him and Turalyon were both so annoying

I don’t think I said to ‘make him better’. Just that he was popular and they wanted to take him in a different direction, from pure villain to anti-hero.
I personally liked what they did with Illidan, but it’s all subjective.
Oof, hard disagree. Cata killed my raiding guild, ending my social interactions with WoW forever and making me quit the game until WoD, tragically skipping Pandaria entirely.
That’s rough! It was the opposite for me. My old raiding guild thrived, I was a top player, and it was some of the best wow I’ve ever played.
Sorry that Cata sucked for you so much >.<
That wasn’t even a rewrite. Even back in TBC it was always Illidans goal to build an army and fight against Sargeras. The problem was in order to do that he was majorly screwing over the citizens of Outland. And he was also betrayed by Kael’thas.
They just made him like how he originally was in the RTS game, and yes, he was that edgy.
TBC = Legion chapter 2
BFA was like a Sylvanas side quest: faction do away
Wrath = Shadowlands aka chapter 2
CATA = Dragonflight aka chapter 2
TWW: However, We’re not in Pandaria so, some kind of side quest build up
Technically we’ve had Pandaria Remix
So that leaves Warlords, but we’re getting player housing = Garrisons 2.0
So….TBC 3? Next expansion. Another planet. Draenor AU AU? More Yrel?
I’m tired of ye olde island hidden behind the mists/fog of war
it wasnt sudden, illidan was always a sorta good guy, yea his methods were not always good, but his end goal was. and shadowlands didnt try to make arthas a good guy in the slighest, they turned him into a fart and pulled the BUT ACTUALLY THEY WERE GOOD THIS WHOLE TIME! on sylvanas
I didn’t like Legion much either except the beginning but it got old fast
Thats good insight. I can see how they want to try and take the Arthas momentum and give it to Sylvanas.
I still dont get the internal dislike for Arthas. He was a beloved villain.
If legion did “suck” for you, then every other expansion must be abysmal for you. Legion was the only good expansion in this 10 years.
Kind of but with way more fel green than you can imagine and Khadgar invading your personal space every chance he got. Just so he could shirk/sub contract his Guardian duties on to us with substandard pay. No inn, bar, or AH accept AP as a valid form of payment. He ripped us off.
He should have been a world boss so we could give him an Omni-man level whooping for his repeated violations on us and our Class Halls.
What’s the matter druid boy
Afraid you might enjoy mop?
So folks like you is why I can’t raid. Or do anything in groups. Crack some off the cuff left field statement that paralyzes me in fits of hyperventilating laughter. Can’t remember what I’m supposed to be doing, all focus gone, poof. then stagger into some deadly floor mechanic. Finally benched by the raid leader and all the crony guilds my guild leader used to farm me out to just because some cat would make some twisted observation and what was left of any shred of skill or competence would be flushed down the toilet.
Druid girl and I really hadn’t remembered mop. Tww sucks sorry to tell you.
I started in tbc, turned 19 just before panaria came out and did Argus. I can say that it wasnt just redo, Legion felt grearter than TnG
You mean TBC?
legion was their retconned version of their initial retcon in tbc. and tbc was a recton of the wc3 version. blizzard looooves retcons.
So was Legion a “do over” for TBC?
The feel of the two expansions was entirely different. Cat changed a lot more than the physical landscape in that Vanillia, TBC and Wrath are really the Classic expansions where as Cat to SL were the middle level expansions.
DF was the start of something new because that’s where we got Dragon flying and Follower dungeons. Now we have delves, etc. Of course there is overlap but that’s the way I see it.
I enjoyed Illidan during Legion, he’s one of the more interesting characters to me. I felt they wrote him well with his characterisation in War of the Ancients in mind. Of course the edginess was a bit over the top here and there but that is very much WoW to me, and actually something I’ve been sorta missing the last few expansions.
