Illidan’s voice acting by Liam O’Brien was so good it made me pay attention.
Still my fav xpac by a large margin.
I don’t think it was a redo though.

People just only care about end game content and when the legendary system was in place it was a grind so they only cared about that and it sucked for a time. They ignore everything else the expansion had to offer though.
The expansion was good.
They wanted to give Illidan a chance at redemption, that he had no problem with going to the extremes if it was for a greater good.
He never wanted to be the good guy who gets pushed over. He knew that you sometimes had to be as dark as your enemy.
Only at the start. They fixed Legendary acquisitions and AP grinding.
So many good things, outweighed the issues.
Eh, I actually enjoyed legion’s story riiiiight up to the minute Illidan was deemed the chosen one, saviour to all and just so cool you guys. Then I gagged a little and started skipping cutscenes and quest text.
The more I actually think back to legion, the more I wonder “Wait, was Legion bad?” Beyond the class halls and how cool the whole relic weapon system turned out, there is a lot to legion that I disliked. The story got completely wrecked the moment Illidan took center stage.
Good thing he called that out and said there is no chosen one
This as in the War of the Ancients novels from 2005 because of his eyes. If anything, Legion continued the story arc that should have been what happened in TBC. The characters grew. We are in control of our destiny.
By do over we mean retcon yes?
Took me a long time to really understand what Legion was. Well, not so much as a long time as a handful of videos and some reading.
Yeah it’s a retcon. A good one. WoD started it and Legion showed why it was worthwhile. Illidan being a good guy is solid.
Now if only Shadowlands could’ve done something better with Arthas. A redemption ark or at least give him some screen time.
Actually, never mind… They threw him away knowing full well they’d do him wrong. Kind of sucks. Uther got that second-hand whiplash. Slyvie got burnt into the ground. Tyrande was a joke character. Shadowlands needs a retcon bad.
He can say whatever he wants, it doesn’t change the fact the plot was replaced from that moment on by The Illidan Show.
It really wasn’t. It was replaced by the army of light show featuring the PC and friends.
If you thought it was just replaced by illidian than you really didn’t pay attention. But this is the conclusion of illdians story as well, that was hinted so far back that it is older than most players.
To be fair, I had as much disgust for the Army of Light as well. I just stopped caring at that point after the Illidan crap. Still, I recall Illidan being there right until then end, so I don’t really know what you are talking about there.
Of course he was right, he always was since Warcraft 3.
That doesn’t make him a chosen one, that just makes him cool. Dude has been beating the same drum for 10k years and in his conviction, he won.
Huh? I said he was there, as in he was a part of the main plot, right until the end. (of the story) I didn’t mean to imply anything about him being correct.
Why wouldn’t be part of the downfall of the legion until the end? That is literally a major plot point of his character.
That’s like saying harry potter was there at the end of Voldemort.
Yeah, he was there, so it was still The Illidan Show. That was my point, if you recall.
Lol I got it, you just don’t like that illdian is a major part of the story, which has been going on with him for over 20 years now. Strange but sure.
Not everyone is a fanboy of the The Edgy Elfboi. What can I say? He is boring character, and the best thing that can be said about him is that his one dimensional characterization means he can only suck in one way.
More of a Shadowlands guy, huh ![]()
Gave it a skip. Refuse to touch it.
No, you’re onto something.
