I will rip threat off my pets regardless of if it’s the blueberry or the felguard if I use health funnel.
It’s so strange it generates A LOT of threat like that but it does!

Voidwalkers have always struggled with aggro, particularly as destro. Those direct damage crits (combined with health funnel support, as mentioned) can snag enemy attention fast.
Typically, I only use the VW early in an expac, when my gear (and damage) is too low to make much of a difference. As gear improves, and aggro fails, I’ll swap to a dps pet even while soloing. At that point I typically either nuke stuff to death before it gets to me, or take a couple punches before blowing it up at point blank range.
Bear in mind that’s merely for non-elite open world mobs that we kill by the dozens. For elites (such as in elite-world-quest areas) I’ll switch to Affliction and bring the VW back. The lower threat of DoTs really make a big difference, and I can easily chew through most quest-elites pretty fast. Named/rare elites are another story…

yeah, I was thinking IF VW had been patched into irrelevance Id swap to that or the pup instead. lol.
While BM hunter has an excellent defensive package, direct healing isnt one of them compared to warlock and IF that poster played both like I do EVERY day, he’d have known not to make that joke statement. lol.
Hunter is a blast to play, BM anyway, and yeah, it has a lot of defensives, including Feign Death being top notch when it actually works, but for that poster to sit there pretending that it can stand toe to toe with locks ability to keep healing itself in combat with drain life and heathstones is just laughable. Toss in stuff like Fear and Howl of Terror, and lock has enough defense AND healing to stand up to most everything very easily, including being mobbed.
This yesterday was just out of the ordinary. I mean, I ran thru packs of stuff to pull it in and VW is pounding on it but it just wasnt paying any attention to VW at all.
After I logged out for bit and then back in it seems to have corrected whatever was twitching. When I tried it again it was holding full packs of at least 5 trash that it wasnt just half our before

I’ve found voidwalker to be useless as well. I stopped using it because as soon as I fire off 1 spell the mob comes strait to me.
In previous expansions I thought it was maybe overpowered but seems to have gone quite a way in the other direction. That said basically just makes my Warlocks like Mages now so it’s not really a huge deal.

oh yes, I definitely noticed at one point VW wasnt holding as well as it had been.
I was showing the wife one day how it was holding mobs of crap. I dont even know how many were on it. lol. I was able to kill them one by one, healing the VW along the way, healthstoning myself until it was all dead.
I tried the same thing like maybe 18 months later and yeah, wasnt working the same at all.
Did seem to be too powerful back when. And blizzard has a knack of OVER reacting in the other direction instead of making small tweaks instead for some reason, lol
with healthstones and drain life Lock is always going to be pretty tough, assuming they dont strip them of that.
I still get wasted easier on mage for some reason, by comparison to lock. Some mage players say they have it just fine, so probably something Im doing wrong, as usual lmao
Felguard holds better aggro than the void walker nowadays imo. To bad it’s limited to demo spec.
Yeah, they been decreasing it for a while now. As soon as you cast one spell it loses threat.

To clear things up.
Voidwalkers have issues in every expansion when the player character gets better and better gear. Eventually the Voidwalker can’t hold agro, because we’re just doing more burst damage.

No, this happens with my under geared warlocks. Even if it was the case it would still be silly.

Might have to try the other pets out. Im usuallly VW solo and Imp grouped. Literally macroed the summon spells that way, lol
They’re affliction. Affliction gives the vw a little time to establish threat at the start but as soon as the healing starts, or MR throws the aoe, the same problem will pop up.
If they truly never pull threat away from their VW, they’re doing wimp damage. The threat issue has been complained about for several expansions now.
BUT, the VW has always had trouble holding threat for destro. You boom way too high for the pet to handle. Aff and demo are the only 2 where you can really use a pet to tank for you a little.

I play demo mostly, but yeah the Felguard works better for holding aggro. I guess because it does better damage, than the voidwalker. Try it out and see if it works for you.
I didnt realize that. I went over to the warlock forum looking to see if anyone else was complaining about it yesterday but that forum is kinda dead.
Destruction definitely seems to be doing enough damage, mine isnt even 430 yet.
I havent played affliction since they stripped it of Life Tap. Not exactly required but gave the spec a lot more personality. Felt like playing a good black deck in Magic the Gathering, trading life for something i need to do. Lost all interest in the spec once that was gone.
You won’t find locks complaining about it anymore. It’s just the norm now. Plus, the lack of a pet tank will get you used to your utilities and defensives.
The only way to ever have it tank for you as aff was to let it establish threat for several globals and then baby step it but unless you’re afk letting the dots tick, it won’t last very long. The big blueberry is just a meme now.
Slow, port, gateway, pact, healthstone. When you’re alone, pet or not, YOU will be the tank. Unless you afk it.

Yeah sometimes vw does that . Sometimes I’ll use vw for pvp but usually I just use succubus.

Mine probably has in the past and I just didnt notice it. This was going on for so long there was no way to overlook it. It was like I didnt have a pet out at all for quite some time yesterday until I logged out for a bit there.
I might swap over to the pup or sexy nurse for a bit to see how it works out. Their abilities seem to be half decent.
