I don’t use healer addons (gasp), but this works mostly well:
/cast [@mouseover,help,exists] [@target,help,nodead] [@focus] Angelic Feather
The only issue is I have to mouseover the frame and not the actual character. In a way that’s not bad because it brings up the target rather than casting it on the character so I can still use it as a shuttle.
I think most people would be hard pressed to catch me unless my engineering boost fails. However, it doesn’t save me from the creatures I aggro along the way.
Please, feel free to watch that tank self-serve some humble pie, and not the Peter Frampton kind. Sorry your dungeon sounded stressful. I hope you were able to successfully complete (and in time if mythic plus)
If they want to pull that much, they seriously need to consider their ability to survive it for quite some time.
When I pull ahead and grab lots of mobs I do so because I can solo mythic plus (not high ones), can off heal, will pump 40k on big trash pulls - stuff protection paladins running dps gear with seraphim at my ilevel should be doing (I possess no innate skill from other tanks). If ANYONE objects or I see other groups being pulled (and I’m never more than one or two packs ahead) I’ll stop and run at the pace of the slowest player.
There is no need to stress others out for little gain on my end.
It is also incredibly difficult to heal their cousin from that foreign country with really long names: Lack-of-situational-awareness. Sadly, my passport shows I’ve been there more times than I’d care to admit
Dude, did you read? Hes level thirty, the tank only has charge. He also described the situation and described that it was a specific ability and then described charge. I’d call you a tool but tools at least try to get details right.
If you’re going to participate in group content, put on your big boy pants and do your best, not cry when people actually push you to try a little bit.
I’ve played every role in WoW since forever. I know far more about the game than yourself. Play instead of whine and maybe you’ll get better at it.
If you can’t handle that, there is plenty of solo content for you to do.
I would need to disagree with you. The job a healer does is different, but no more important than anyone elses. If you do not have DPS, you cannot meet the enrage timer and you wipe. Or the healer/tank run out of resources and die, then its a wipe.
The tank has to manage positioning of the mobs, slows, aoe cc, and generally coordinating things for a smooth run. They also determine the paths taken, the speed its taken, and keep track of percentage for the M+ runs.
If anything, I would argue the job of a tank is perhaps the greatest. If he makes an error and gets himself killed, or misses a mechanic, its usually a wipe for the entire party. On the other hand, if the healer makes an error, there are ways to come back from it.
As for the above…
You got a way of proving that, or are you just running your fingers across the keyboard since you’re upset he disagrees with your stance?
You don’t have to stress. Just follow the tank as best you can. They probably won’t die due to the nature of leveling dungeons, and if they do, you can rez them. The mage has ice block, so you can toss them a heal when you have a moment but otherwise ignore them. If the group gets mad and blames you, don’t take it to heart.
I stopped tanking with my DH because of it.
Rushy DPS players know you can zip thru the place and keep crying if youdont…but the healers are having trouble keeping up, especially if the DPS jokers are pulling and taking damage and the healer has to stop and heal them hoping I dont die before he can get to me.
I hate being in the middle of that fight.
Sometimes I really think these clowns are playing FOR the AI enemies in this game instead of for our team.
Okay I have read most of these posts. I have played tanks in many worlds over a 20 year plus period including WoW.
First off, the role of a tank has a lot of responsibilities. Keeping open communications with his healer and group *** IE…first thing…Tank asks is mana?
Its a simple question…if its on the low side tank doesn’t pull…no exceptions. you don;t like that as a group member who wants to finish in lightning speed go screw off and find another group.
As a tank, I go at my own speed…its called common sense speed. My job is not only to pull and hold aggro but COMMUNICATE with my group as I do that. The finishing result is all of us in group stay alive, and we finish the dungeon. No wipes.
Tank grabs aggro, tank holds aggro then group members chime in and throw in their high end dps etc. If a dps member of group is stealing aggro from the tank, then they are doing it wrong. Golden rule…always let the tank grab and hold aggro before you attack something. The tank also has a responsibility…KNOW HOW TO GET AGGRO AND HOLD IT!
Its not rocket science guys and gals. Its common sense even though you are just in a gaming world. Know your character, the role your character plays, and play it well and smart.
In retrospect, while in lower level dungeons, give some slack to new players who are just learning the game. And remember that high end dungeons will still challenge people just learning them. We all learn from mistakes.
