So once the Microsoft Acquisition FINALLY goes through

Microsoft will probably do 1 of three things with wow
1)ignore it mostly, they bought activision blizzard for call of duty not some 20 year old MMO in its twilight years
2)They’ll add a bunch of monetization to squeeze every penny they can to make a return on investment.
3) theyll force all the devs to stop work on wow and move to some other project that wont go anywhere and then fire everyone after 2 years.

=/=

“Usually” being the key word there.

I feel like Blizzard’s infamous history might make it an extenuating circumstance in this regard.

We’ll see.

All I’m saying is that I could see MS putting new people in charge, and then basically telling them “go do whatever as long as you’re not giving us PR problems.”

They couldn’t care less about that. The moneypushers pushing the purchase have probably done far worse, and the people responsible for all that mess are all already gone anyways except Kotick (who’s untouchable).

You restructure a company after purchasing it for pennies if it’s failing and you think you can make something else of it. Blizzard is not failing, despite nerd rage over video game balance that the financial people aren’t reading and don’t care about. This is the biggest gaming purchase in history. They’re not going to change anything.

Of all the news about the new expansion for FFXIV, the game finally coming to Xbox was a big surprise for me. With how chummy Sony and SquareEnix have been, I wouldn’t have expected it.

Not true, I read on Reddit from a user named xNotPhilSpencer69x and I quote:

Microsoft wants to buy Blizzard because the president of their gaming division was ganked way back in 2008 by some Blood Elf death knight who camped him for like three hours in STV. Phil, a good family friend, said he’d do everything he could to one day buy Blizzard and just ban all the Blood Elves.

He also has a thing for Draenei and will give everyone playing them, including himself, like 100 billion gold or something. Again, I’m not Phil, that’s just what I heard.

I’m about to buy Endwalker for PC so I can catch up before the Xbox release. Provided my PC can run it. It should, but I’m gonna check anyway.

Last time I played was Shadowbringers launch, but I got rid of my PS4 shortly after and I’ve only had a gaming PC for like 6 or 7 months now.

They were working on that deal for a while. I figured it was only a matter of time.

FF XIV isn’t the most resource intensive game. If you’ve got something better than a PS3 or PS4, you’re probably going to be fine for a while.

I finished the 6.0 MSQ for Endwalker before coming back to WOW for Dragonflight. My PC is like five… six… years old now (maybe a bit older) and can run FFXIV relatively fine on Medium graphics settings. I had wanted to get a new GPU for awhile now, but the prices for those skyrocketed, so I’m just waiting for them to come back down. Of course, by then I could probably just get a whole new PC.

sigh you’re probably right.

I hope it’s option 1.

Candy crush but with wow currency/reagents icons

Hellfire.

A new company will always want to bring in their own peeps.

In all likelihood Ion keeps his job since he knows how to keep things running smoothly and they just add a new position above him and put their own guy there.

After acquisitions it’s common for there to be layoffs. I don’t think it’ll be the President of the company leaving though. Especially since he came to Acti-Blizz from Microsoft. I’d be surprised at least.
