Better than mine. I chuckled like a middleschooler about OP talking about his bowel movement having to wait.
Brew doesn’t bring zero utility, it’s just nothing special, majorly impactful/required or unique. Poison/Disease dispel is the most useful type typically, but Prot Paladin brings the same thing as do many DPS. RoP is situationally useful but never really required. The best thing we have, which is something overlooked and not usually taken, is arguably Elusive Mists. 6% may seem small, but considering it’s on demand it can be extremely valuable, and the effective energy cost is only ~-5/s assuming extremely low haste with neither HT or Veteran’s Eye up. Next most noteworthy is VV offhealing, which can do around half a DPS health bar on a crit. We definitely need more, though. Avert Harm or Guided Meditation would be amazing, or bringing back monk auras and increasing their range would be at the very least decent.
Brew is consistently one of if not the best raid tanks in practicality due to stagger basically entirely preventing most mechanics that might one shot in early prog (early prog being arguably the only thing that “matters” in raid). That being said, you’re not wrong that there are many pain points that can be addressed without touching stagger. We just need AoE scaling like literally every tank has, some more impactful utility and a slight tree rework to get rid of or fix dead/underused talents and make some mandatory talents baseline.
Ya know I’m kind of happy with brew not being touched after seeing the absolute gutting prot warrior is getting to their rage economy
I’m sorry but every time someone tries to list all these little things it’s just cope to me.
Like, you know what I mean by utility.
Actually impactful puzzle pieces people are slotting into group comp, some of which are unfortunately required like brez/lust.
But raid buffs that are extremely meaningful, or the ability to trivialize mechanics. Poison cleanse is nice but there’s no where it’s actually game changing. Curse dispel is the only dispel that is mandatory to stack in 2 keys rn.
We bring nothing that MEANINGFULLY increases the success of the key or survivability of the group. If we still had our God damn avoidance/heal increase auras we had all last expac it’d be a completely different story. Those auras for a stacked group in cot would be insane
They’re one of, but not the best in raids currently. Detractors will say brew was only brought for MT for the top guilds, not sure how much truth there is in that. We’re wonderful at taking that giant hit at medium cadence, but it’s starting to feel like a 1 trick pony.
Agree with absolutely everything you mentioned as far as fixes but I still think that on top of that we take too much magic damage. Even severely outgearing dungeons now, there are pulls that just truck me, single pulls even, it feels terrible when you’re redlining stagger on normal pulls and a juiced cb shield lasts a whopping 1.5s.
Okay, conceding for the sake of argument they tack on a brez or lust. It comes down to what other utility we bring as a reason to bring us over any other classes that carry them. We don’t have a reason to be brought. Tacking on homogenized utility is not the answer.
Poison dispel is traditionally the most impactful dispel in M+. Even in the current season’s meta comp, poison dispels are stacked whether intentionally or not. Ara-Kara and City have pretty major poisons, Mists last area, Siege has a tank poison that trucks. Bonus for also being a disease for Blightbone’s Heaving Retch. These are traditionally the most impactful dispel types going back as far as I’ve played M+. Curses have traditionally been very weak and going back through the entirety of DF, the only noteworthy curses were also dispellable with snare removals.
Direct words from my healer friend is that throwing VV or even Chi Bursts at the right moment has saved lives in keys. Also, those auras were garbage. The 10yd radius was abysmal and even stacking in CoT is not tight knit enough to reliably trigger them. They’d need to massively increase the radius for them to be even remotely comparable to Paladin. Elusive Mists is far more impactful when used properly.
I’m definitely not against them giving more utility to Brewmaster or monk in general, but to say we bring nothing is completely hyperbolic.
I feel its most not using stagger correctly, that and the way it functions with lower keys not hitting you into red stagger makes it feel a bit more challenging to tank with.
Hopefully they will get a QoL fix to address that, BrM deserves dome love and monk as a whole needs blizzard to stop ignoring them
We, bring, nothing, actually substantial or else we would be picked for groups.
Yes homogenized utility would help.
Hunters can get invites purely because a group needs a lust.
You are massively overvaluing the dispels. And your argument against homogenized utility helping us completely contradicts your argument for our dispels being strong utility lol.
And if you don’t think 8% increased healing for the group isn’t good you are cooked.
Being “picked for groups” is a moot metric. Community perception is everything. People see Brewmaster at the bottom of arbitrary tier lists and see things above it, assume it’s bad, which is then bolstered by poor experiences with people playing the spec poorly in lower keys, and do not take the chance to invite them. It has nothing to do with what the spec brings or does not.
At what level? At a lower level the lust doesn’t even matter, at a higher level (where arguably it still is not necessary but helps tremendously until the very, very top), I’d be surprised if any hunter got invited outside of the spec being tuned well.
Even putting that aside, bringing lust or a brez means nothing when other specs bring more. Like I said, we bring some utility, saying we bring absolutely nothing is hyperbole, but we definitely need more. If we get a Brez, people still just take Prot Paladin over us unless Brewmaster is absurdly busted or Prot Paladin is unable to live.
No, I’m not. The poisons in dungeons do absolutely truck worth damage and consistently have been some of the most valuable dispels. Please heal if you have not and look outside of the vacuum of this season.
The buff was hardly ever up because of the horribly tight 10 yard range. A friend who plays MW and I experimented heavily with them and when we started actually tracking how much uptime they had and how tight the radius was, they were hardly ever up, especially so when it mattered. They were just bad. Unless they got their radius expanded, they were trash and wouldn’t be worth taking. You and many others seem to have massively overestimated their actual uptime. Unless you were near pixel stacked with an ally, they were out of range, and stacking with the tank is usually not the play.
