We wouldn’t even have Classic if it wasn’t for pservers.

Not seeing how that has anything to do with my comments but since you brought it up.

Blizzard wouldn’t have tons of compromised accounts due to sketchy pserver admins. Blizzard also would not have spent much $ on recovering their intellectual property.

Heck, since this forum is blowing up with stretches. We probably wouldn’t have BfA either. If those hard line vanilla people were still with Blizzard and on the forums asking for a return of the design philosophies.

The reason this is such an issue is because every single beta they have done did not require a subscription to get a chance into it. Now all of a sudden it does. That’s why people are upset.

If you want to die on this hill you go right ahead, the US is starting to get on the loot box bad bandwagon, it’ll be years/decades before that bubble burst due to it being a multi billion dollar industry.
now if you have a few billion to throw in the other direction to go back to your ‘‘golden age’’ of gaming feel free.

Either way, Blizzard screwed up on this one for sure. Personally I’m not that upset about it however, this is a big slap in the face to people who only intended to play classic. Because what this does is forces people who couldn’t care less about retail to pay for a subscription that may or may not get them in the beta at all. That in my opinion is a very poor choice by Blizz.

I get it, but I think people need to understand that Blizzard actually reads these forums and inviting non-subs guarantees they will get high levels of feedback just saying no sharding, no layering, no changes, instead of reporting back on the actual gameplay experience which transcends no-lifers want for a crashy long queue experience.

True I can see that happening. However, I still think in a way its disrespectful to the player base that wanted these kinds of servers for so long. I wouldn’t doubt though, if Blizzard did this back in say, Cata, I doubt Blizzard would have put classic beta behind a sub fee.

Take a deep breath, relax, chill out. Use your head, not your heart. Emotions are running high. Don’t say and do things you’ll later regret. Personally, I’m not thrilled with some things we learned today, but I’ll take my time and rationally consider the implications and make a decision after much contemplation.

Also…we just got the release date. There’s a beta starting up. There’s good things going on.

The release is going to be to late. Classic had a REALLY good chance of being successful but they have now killed it with a late august release.

I do understand what you’re saying as well. I think it would have either been its own sub or included in the game sub. Either way, I’m just happy we’re getting it Especially with the release date less than 4 months out.

Beta For Azeroth, I guess they realized people pay for that - so why wouldn’t they make you pay for the beta for other games.

its not clear though, they say participants would need a sub, nothing about needing a sub to be invited in the first place.

We should find out shortly though, invites start tomorrow, and I think the toggle in beta settings is pretty recent.

Yea, I really don’t understand people. So much hate, so much anger, so much angst. It blows my mind.

We are getting WoW Classic people. They’re opening Beta tomorrow, and there’s even a Collector’s Edition coming now. These are good things.

Sometimes you have to wonder how the devs feel seeing all this toxic trash being spewed here. They must wonder if we’re even worth their efforts.
