I suspect that most of the mages who entered this thread forgot to cast Arcane Intellect, as they greatly misinterpreted what the author went through in his first comment.
On the topic, in fact, one of the goals of revamping the talent trees was to give the player greater freedom and this was even completed successfully. However, this objective was severely affected by gear sets and hero trees.
Tying some heroic talents to those in the class or specialization trees is a terrible practice. And this also happens in other classes.
I really hope that Blizzard will reevaluate this practice and make changes in the near future, because the greater our freedom, the greater the number of players who will have fun.
