My 27 Druid is 14 Resto, & now working on some Balance. My rotation for the usual yellow melee mob pull is:
Starfire for initial pull-punch (or perhaps a Wrath or 2)
(above cast is skipped if mob gets the jump on me)
Moonfire DD+DoT
Insect Swarm DoT/Debuff
Fairie Fire Armor Debuff (sometimes)
Autoattack Melee with my 2HND Crush or Staff Weapon while DoTs tick away.
Throw in another Moonfire if first one drops off before a certain point
Tougher yellows (or missed melee hits) may require an additional Insect Swarm as well.
If fighting two mobs, I will also weave in a Renew with my auto-attack swings as needed.
Iâm not a real fan of the Cat/Bear/Moonkin combat/casting forms, so I tend to actively play her as a humanoid caster/healer hybrid (itâs whatâs fun for me). I love using Aquatic form though, & will be using Cheetah form from 30-60 without buying a mount at 40. I will switch to Cat form for the dash & stealth sometimes though, or bear if I am fleeing a group while being pummeled, lol.
i love full frost⌠fire is only for ice resistant mobs, consequently my fireballl is low ranked and i only use fireblast for the instant cast to snipe.
iâve been fire in other xpacs, but frost is best for me in classic.
edit - grr unintuitive quotes
You arenât speaking to someone who didnât actually raid in Vanilla as a warlock, because I did since it was my main for some time before BC launched. So your post trying to make it sound as if I was oblivious didnât work very well.
While a warlock will definitely be using shadowbolt a lot in raids, itâs not all you use. I understand there is the debuff limit, but I remember needing a dot timer in my raiding guild because I needed to keep them refreshed at all times. If I remember right, depending on the number of warlocks in our raid that night, each lock was assigned a certain curse, dot, etc. Did we throw up all our dots? No. But we did use them split up between the locks and then we have other abilities that arenât dots. Itâs not just shadowbolt spamming all the time.
You seem to have also forgotten about the crowd control portion with the warlocks as well.
Forgot to add to my above post that raiding isnât all there is in Classic as well. Try using 1-2 abilities in pvp aa a warlock and see how good that turns out for you. I did quite a bit of pvp back then on mine and had a blast.
A good warlock, or any class for that matter, knows how to use their toolset to their advantage instead of following some meta.
Yeah. This is my 1st time in Vanilla. Iâm so much more used to BC & WOTLK.
Iâve always gone Fire except for my very first and awful mage build with pyroblast, blast wave, presence of mind, and I think I had cold snap because I had frost talents too. But after other players saw me using instant cast pyroblasts in PVP, they told me I was gimping my mage by not going full fire, frost, or arcane (I didnât even Google 3 minute mage, I was just super noob then lol).
Anyways, back on topic. For Classic, Iâm leaning heavily into going full frost for the 1st time. But Iâm going to miss having my Blast Wave for when my Frost Nova is on cooldown. I havenât even used my talent points yet until I decide on a Full Fire, Full Frost, Elemental Mostly Fire, or Elemental Mostly Frost Build.
The Classic warlock is a blast to play for me. The retail warlock is very boring to me and not enjoyable at all. I have tried to like it for years but it just isnât fun.
You can call me a Classic baby all you like (gotta love how people resort to that type of thing when people disagree with them by the way, itâs funny), but at least in Classic I have fun and the class is more interesting. And as I said before, there is more to the game than raiding. PvP on a warlock in Classic is tons more fun and you have many more abilities at your disposal and a good warlock will use them well. You arenât locked out of spells by being a âspecialization.â
I could care less if the retail lock has one or one hundred spells. It bores me to tears and Iâm not going to play what isnât fun.
You tried to exaggerate things that wasnât true and you thought you was talking to someone new to Vanilla warlocks, then get bent out of shape when the person isnât oblivious.
At least you arenât hindered in having all of your abilities by being a specialization. At least in Classic I can use my affliction, demonology and destruction talents in both pve and pvp. Can you do that in retail? Nah, didnât think so.
So you do care quite a bit then if you could care less than you currently do?
Trying to sound smart when you are an ignoramus is really entertaining.
Indeed, with folks like you around
Sounds exactly like what you are doing with the whole âclassic locks have many more abilities at your disposal and a good warlock will use them wellâ as if the same wasnt true for retail and retail lock is âsoooooo boringâ
