You lost almost everyone right there. If you’re efficient with your play time, leveling doesn’t take all that long and certainly won’t consume your life.
i came back a month or so ago from a super long hiatus (beginning of wod long.) im not waiting till sl drops to start leveling some alts lol.
I started playing like a couple years ago. I’m glad the leveling changes are coming because I want to try out more classes. But it takes me quite awhile to level given the other games I play/work/school so I just feel kinda weird about leveling something now when it’ll be faster later. Yah its a long ways off but its sorta like artifact knowledge. Maybe its just me idk
Well you did because you responded to my post that was referencing the following:
Perhaps you should pay more attention to what you’re responding to?
Do you realise how little time it takes to level a rested alt in TW?
Why it is NOT a waste of time…
You have to level no matter what. Ion said they are using a basic calculation to determined the squish. So easy, Geico is worried. (X/120 = 50 x %)
Leveling in BFA or… leveling where you want later? Or… prepatch time, which is always fun imho. Imagine the mass of scourge to defend against! I bet there were be some cool, one time only xmogs too.
Unless you plan to wait a year to level your alt you might as well do it now.
We’re a long way away from 9.0 still.
I’m leveling a Priest atm, gonna work on her class hall and getting the old tier sets for transmog. Lots to do before 9.0 hits!
I play maybe 2 hours a day with maybe 3 on weekends
I feel like GD would be shocked to learn that there are plenty of WoW players who don’t religiously play the game every day.
2-3 hours a day, every day, is a lot of time spent in the game. Yes, no-lifers spend much more time, but 15-20 hours a week is a lot.
We still probably have 2-3 months left of TEP.
I’d be incredibly surprised if pre-patch gets dropped any earlier than 6 months into Nyalotha. Considering the last tier of a raid usually lasts longer than other tiers, it might even be 8 months.
So optimisitcally, you still probably have about 8 months before the pre-patch leveling changes go live.
If you can wait that long to level alts, by all mean you’ll save some time. But if you actually want to play those characters, I’d just bite the bullet and level them now.
Until you realize by the time shadowlands rolls around your alts could be max and ready sitting at 50. Only you can decide how to spend your time in life. Be prepared and ready for raids , pvp or new content. Or lose time leveling alts in the new expansion .
I’m still going to level alts. So I could do it a bit quicker if I waited a year. Who cares? It’s still very quick and easy, and I’d rather do it now while the game sucks and I have nothing else I want to do rather than doing it when Shadowlands releases and I actually want to play. Especially if it turns out that one of the classes I’d level looks interesting enough to main in Shadowlands, allowing me to start with it immediately.
Given the blizzcon announcements is it simply a better use of of time to wait until 9.0 to level alts?
If you aren’t having fun on alts…why bother with them at all.
9.0 won’t change whether or not you are having fun playing alts. It really is just that simple…if you have fun playing alts then play. If you aren’t having fun on alts…then don’t play.
certainly sounds like it to me. atleast, in terms of wanting to make your toon stronger. plus, when the level-squish hits, you’ll level a lot quicker, and be able to do an entire expansion, versus the stuttered bursts of them we do right now.

lol maybe I should have pointed out that 2-3 hours was on days i play , phrasing a sentence was never my strong suit
I think on average i play more between 10-15 hours a week , will times like now were i am down to 30-60 mins a dad if the gold emissary WQ are up , 2000g x 14 character keeps me interested if only they were up everyday ,Mn miss legion and all those gold missings were all you had to do was click a button and collect 2500gold .

If you want to wait a year, sure. If you want to play and enjoy them now, do that.
Everything in life is a waste of time. Make what choices you deem best.
