While the “original” “classic” is now PAST cata the only thing we have currently is

Era (dead basically)

20th Anniversary, which is basically a TBC waiting room (still have to wait until next YEAR) and 20th Anniversary being the 5th? 6th? run of classic the community is the worse it’s ever been

Hardcore, which is still fun but lost some momentum and for some reason isn’t being brought into TBC

And, finally, SOD, which I still think is peak wow. But isn’t it over basically?

Feels like all our versions of classic are completely stagnant now. Has any dev shed any light on anything? Another project? Season? SOD update etc?

my money is on classic+. they need some time to polish it.

Only things we know:

  • It’s spooky.

  • There’s a picture of Classic Darkshire.

SoD is likely done after this phase. Efforts will be put on TBC classic and MoP classic and then we’ll likely see an announcement for whatever the next version of this is. There isn’t much room to go here due to how powerful SE gear is.

This sure does line up. They have MoP then TBC Anni to keep players tied up in 2026…then wham hit the Classic+ announcement end of 2026
