So... is Survival Just a "Boomstick Bot" now?

And that is exactly what I am testing. I’m not testing the whole damage profile, just a specific part of it.

  • I’m not claiming ‘This proves Beast Mastery as a whole is underpowered’.
  • I’m demonstrating Beast Mastery’s downtime damage is significantly lower than the other Hunter specs.

I also find it interesting you say…

  • fall-back
  • inactive
  • below-intended function state

I would then ask: does Beast Mastery suddenly drop to 0 damage outside of that burst window?

You already answered that question yourself, ‘No’, but then continue to imply that Hunters are no longer pressing:

  • Kill Command
  • Barbed Shot
  • Cobra Shot

outside of that burst window. So, which is it? Has the Spec Profile suddenly shut off outside the burst window, or does the Downtime damage window have meaningful value?

This is a misunderstanding of my car analogy. I am not testing without Kill Command, Barbed Shot, and Cobra Shot. A more accurate analogy would be:

  • I am testing how a turbocharged engine performs when the turbo is not currently engaged.

You could argue:

  • But the turbo is part of the engine’s intended operation.

Which I agree, however, that does not make measuring non-turbo performance meaningless.

Then why did the Dev Notes specifically say:

This is the portion of the Damage Profile Blizzard mentions. This is the portion of the Damage Profile I was testing.

  • My test identified a large gap in Beast Mastery’s steady-state damage compared to the other Hunter Specs. Blizzard’s note independently identified Beast Mastery’s performance outside of Bestial Wrath windows as an area needing improvement.

Blizzard’s stated reason for the change aligns with the issue my test was designed to measure. :dracthyr_tea:
