Why is the downtime portion exempt from comparison? ![]()
If every Hunter spec (and pretty much most class-specs) has:
- A burst window
- A downtime window
then comparing the downtime portion isn’t an invalid experiment with ‘0 value’. Controlled isolated experiments is an established way of understanding any system, both simple and complex. Engineers do it. Scientists do it. Game developers do it.
My test was the exact same way a Car Engineer would test a single part of a Vehicle Profile:
- Brakes.
- Fuel economy.
- Engine power.
- Suspension.
- Tire grip.
- Transmission.
- Cooling system.
I tested one part of the whole damage profile (on all three specs, too, multiple times):
- Burst window.
- Downtime window.
With a very specific isolated condition and question: How long does it take to kill a single elite enemy in the overworld (casual content) with a 260+ ilvl, and this was the result:
- Dark Ranger Beast Mastery: 00:49:28sec average.
- Sentinel Marksmanship: 00:24:32sec average.
- Sentinel Survival Dual-Wield: 00:28:86sec average.
- Sentinel Survival 2-Hander: 00:26:87sec average.
My conclusion to the question was: the Downtime window damage is much lower than the other two specs.
Obviously Blizzard has way more log-tracking than I do. I’m just a simple peasant, but the conclusion they reached is the same as mine:
