So I might want to try healing

Holy priest, and read a guide. Organize your spells on bar by function and CD lowest to highest.

What mod would be like this?

FWIW, in dungeon content, the answer to this should always be “yes”. You can drink between every pull, so mana is a complete non-issue.

In Raids, you could make more of an argument to not use the mana, although DPS spells are VERY mana efficient, so it depends how comfortable you and the group are with the content if you think its worth potentially saving that bit of mana or not.

there is very low risk of failing in lowbie dungeons since all classes can self/off heal these days anyways. Wondering why we even need healers now actually, i miss the old days

more likely ppl get upset about the healer dying by mechanics even if it was in part by poor teamwork/damage taken.

So, you’re masochistic is what you’re saying? Okay, I get it, some people like being kicked in the tenders. Personally, I’m not in that crowd.

Semper Fi! :us: :ukraine:

As a main healer I can easily suggest resto druid due to it’s simplicity, it’s a fun and versatile class with a relatively simple rotation, you’ll mostly stick to keep overtime healing on the group and sometimes react to spikes of damage with the appropriate spells like regrowth and swiftmend or tranquility for large group damage.

If you prefer a more direct approach I suppose holy priest is the most simple, it’s just that: direct healing. People take damage you quickly and directly heal that damage. It is not as fun as other healers though, at least imo, but it is pretty good.

Disc priest and holy paladin are two damage focused healers, monk too I think, but I actually never bothered to actually try to heal as a monk so maybe I’m wrong, but overall you pretty much deal damage to mobs to heal your group and they are quite fun (well except for monk again, i don’t find anything about monks fun xD), but a lot harder to master. I personally never managed to get the hang of disc priest despite multiple attempts, but I did enjoy holy paladin.

Shaman is a lot more AOE healing focused than the other classes, it also has a lot of utility like bloodlust, totems, spirit link and are the only healer spec right now with an actual interrupt spell.

I think shaman is the best one to learn on. Lots of good cds, easy to do damage on and not horribly punishing.

After that first leap it gets way easier. This goes for everything.

The most straight forward healers are resto shammy and resto druids imo. You can stay back and just focus on healing, and when you get more acclimated you can toss in some damaging spells.

the hardest thing about healing is starting up in- say a leveling bfa dungeon- and say you get underrot

on the first pull you have the entire squad all hemorrhaging health and no enemies are dying

you try feverishly and everyone dies, no one knows why but the group definitely thinks it is the healers fault

so- as a new healer- you think this is the hardest game/playstyle/role on earth and never play it again

——
healing pugs is a nightmare- the only thing you learn is how poor some players play

if you get lucky and get a good group with good tank who can mitigate and use cd’s, dps who avoid avoidable damage and use pots or other means when they start chunkin’, a group who kicks dangerous casts, etc- you might have very little healing

and then you might think that this healing thing is terrible as i dont have anything to do…

——

if you are going to go for it at least set up your unit frames and move them to where you can easily access party frames and hit your abilities

To this day I say LFR is the best bootcamp for new healers, especially with Ephemeral Plains on the current que.

You will be healing so much stupid, dealing with so many people who mess up mechanics, and having to constantly play in recovery mode so you’ll quickly become very intimate with your toolkit. The added bonus is that you aren’t healing alone (granted your co-healers aren’t in dps spec. Happens… a lot).

After all this, you’ll be prepared to heal just about anything.

Healing can be stressful. You will take the blame even when it isn’t your fault.

You don’t need addons specifically for healing. You can accomplish the same thing with raid frames set to 5 man and the new click spell binding blizzard added. However, I would recommend weakauras at the least.

If you don’t want complicated I’d say Holy priest isn’t a good fit and it’s kind of complicated (imo, others will disagree) or resto shaman. Shaman has a ton of utility (which is good) but it can be daunting when you are new. Disc priest might be ok.

If you’re willing to play a melee healer monk and holy paladin are relatively simple. I personally vote for MW () even though our DPS sucks.

I’m thinking resto druid might be more your speed with balance affinity. Keep your hots rolling and then use ranged spells.

To avoid the overwhelming amount of buttons, I’d recommend holy paladin. They are, by far, the most straight-forward healers.

Resto druid is in a good place, and very simple/easy to learn. I would put it next to Frost dk in its simplicity maybe even hunter. The rest is just doing dmg while your hots are rolling, and pressing cd’s where applicable.

HPAL is good too, but requires more concentration imo, if you like a class that is melee focused, heals really well ST, and can potentially nuke someone (in the past), Hpal is the way to go. I healed in H SOD with HPAL, it wasn’t bad, just stressful. I think R Druid is much easier, gives you a choice between melee/range dps, while also allowing you to heal really well if not in excess.

Ain’t that the truth.

It is very stressful when you’re playing with bad players. But when you’re even remotely playing with good players, it is very trivial. The absolute hardest thing to do in this game is to be an exceptional dps. By this I mean doing exceptional dps, not taking avoidable damage, doing mechanics.

I switched to healing towards the end of 9.0 for the first time in this or any game. I cannot believe how easy it is, most of the time. I’ve healed timed 20s back when dungeons were considerably harder than they are now, and I was surprised at just how easy it was.

It’s mind numbingly easy if you start on it. But if you have healed other classes or other games, you’re gonna have a hard time. I still see other paladins hard cast healing like monkeys lol

Not crucial until you venture into the +20s, but it’s a good habit.

This.

Can never go wrong with Druid.

I was in a group a couple weeks ago with a holy pally that was using flash of light, and it made up 30% of his healing, he was oom. Holy light was at the bottom w/ holy shock. Idk how we got through that key tbh with you.
