So i have idea for bringing back removed appearances

let’s go! great answer, i approve of this completely… well-said, my wonderful friend

It must be tiring moving the goalpost.

Spectral Tiger is essentially non-acquirable anymore. The cards haven’t been made for years and the few that are available are sold for exorbitant real life currency. That’s akin to buying an account with X items on it.

Also Ion said No to the spectral tiger returning, though maybe it’s surprising to you - I also advocate for that coming back. Removing items is bad.

well if ion said no, then it should never come back…

my mistake, sorry ion.

so here’s the list of stuff never coming back

  1. mage tower weapons
  2. mop cmode sets
  3. wod cmode sets
  4. unobtainable titles such as scarab lord, conqueror of naxrammas, immortal, legend of pandaria.
  5. elite pvp sets
  6. gladiator mounts
  7. spectral tiger
  8. magic rooster
  9. corrupted ashbringer
  10. black qiraji battle something mount
  11. anything else that ion says will never come back

alright, i suggest everyone who does not have something on this list to let it go and move on, you will be a much happier person for having done so.

look at that, i wanted the spectral tiger and was told that it was never going to return… so what did i do? i learned to love the mounts i currently have and i moved on from the spectral tiger…its quite healthy to do this.

Looks better in game n yes I do. I look spectacular

you do look great… tauren is the best model for the cataclysmic elite set

i would also like to point out a couple things in regards to Tahonto’s transmog set.

notice how tahonto does not use a wod challenge mode weapon even though tahonto did complete wod cmodes…tahonto found a suitable alternative that looks even better with the set.

additionally, tahonto doesnt use the full season 12 elite set, tahonto made use of the LFR appearance of castle nathria plate set for parts of it.

anyone can make a cool looking transmog with any combination of multiple sets currently in the game.

Outstanding mix of cmg and elite set, well done. Never seen anything like that!

Careful, you’re triggering the FOMO crowd.

i tried to be helpful and just explain to them that they can be happy with all of the other appearances in the game… they didn’t wanna listen to that

Spoiler alert for anyone who thinks this:

Elite PvP sets, KSH appearance stones, seasonal KSM mount, seasonal PvP mount, and many more are progress based rewards and they’re still going strong/proud.

They aren’t going anywhere. Logging in the game does not automatically guarantee you access to all items in perpetuity. You have to earn it.

I agree, it is a good lesson for real life but how is it in anyway whatsoever relevant in a discussion regarding pixels in a hobby?

If people ask for things to be brought back without being assinine and entitled, I’m certain there’s a way to find at least a compromise where every party is content.

I dond understand what you just said

I agree with this. I joined in the middle of Legion, and I was around fourteen at the time.

I wouldn’t mind these older artifact appearances from Mage Tower to come back. I wouldn’t mind WOD challenge mode and Mist of Pandaria challenge mode sets to come back.

These things aren’t exclusive because these players are uniquely skilled and better than everyone. Its because you can only obtain them if you were a player at the time.

If it were simply skill these challenges can be added back, tuned to be incredibly difficult by today’s standard.

But, they do not want that. They want the illusion of being special, and unique.

We can have both new cosmetics added, and older ones brought back. These guys intentionally think in black and white to stand upon a point that doesn’t coherently exist.

This is a lot of players only barrier is joining/being born too late. These are just digital items, and it doesn’t really matter if they are brought back or not. It’ll just be nice to be able to get them.

This guys are acting as though bringing them back would somehow negatively effect them.

Because they have no good self concept of themselves. They act all strong and though but they break the moment you take away their sanctuary, because their RL isn’t going to their likeness. Someone, who is actually footed in the actual world, isn’t bothered by FOMO items coming back.

I rather see new players getting the same enjoyment out of the game as us, instead gatekeeping and make a clear difference between societies. Ion Hazzikostas is and was always a problem. A first world society person making first world problems, not realizing that he has better options at hand to bind the players.

I’d be all for that… Get 1800 or 2000 and get a quest to complete X matches above the rating to get a token to redeem for a past elite set. Keep it at only able to do the quest once per season per character or maybe not. Being able to constantly PVP to farm for old stuff would actually add more players into the pool.

Currently I think Solo Queue and RBGs need rewards or new rewards. RBGs haven’t been touched since Cata with their rewards, would be nice to have something to do with the 50+ saddles I have sitting in my bank. An older elite set that’s been recolored would be neat to see as a reward for Solo Queue. Toys, tabards, unique cloak slot options.

But back on track of old sets… Just letting people earn them from the same difficulty would be fine. Honestly would be harder now if the quest was like the Gladiator Mount quest where you need to win X matches above the rating to get the old set.

What makes me laugh and shake my head is all these threads, and there are many of them, prove these items do have value. If they were truly “worthless pixels” nobody would be making thread after thread after thread. I don’t know about anyone else but I don’t beg, whine and insult people over something that’s worthless.

Not only do people develop selective amnesia when it comes to “rarity can equal value” but it’s like they completely forget how a trophy works. Trophies, outside of something like the Olympics where they’re made of gold and silver, are completely worthless. What makes them have “value” is what a person did to obtain them.

So take one of those tall plastic four pillar trophies with a valkyrie on top. Probably costs $5 to make. Now slap a plaque on it that reads something to the effect of “Joe Bob 1st Place 2014 National Spelling Bee.” Now it has value. Now it means something. However, does it still mean something if they handed every single kid that exact same trophy with that exact same year stamped on it, whether or not that kid competed in that year’s spelling bee? No, it doesn’t. Joe Bob probably throws the trophy in the trash and starts rethinking his choices in life. “Why did I bother to study all those words if every kid got the same trophy for doing half the effort? Screw this.” Or “I should have put off competing and waited until the words got easier/the other kids weren’t as good.”

And this applies to WoW and seasonal events like KSM and gladiator. The Mage Tower was a great example of what happens. The MT was a challenge, whether or not it was a easy challenge is irrelevant, to complete with the current talents, spells, gear, artifact weapons, legendaries and classes. Yeah, classes because now we have a new one.

The legendaries and artifact weapons have been deactivated. The majority of talents and spells we had in Legion have completely changed. IIRC people don’t even use Legion gear for the new MT, they use TW stuff or something like that. The point is, the challenge is gone. When Blizzard brought the MT back, how you handle the fights have changed. You can’t rely on the legendaries we had back in Legion.

So having a MT weapon tells people “hey, I did this when it was current.” Same thing, for example, a rogue riding a gladiator mount from a certain season when rogues weren’t that good. Other pvp’ers go “daaaaamn he got gladiator when rogues sucked so much.”

And yeah maybe that rogue feels special. So. What? When did it become a crime to feel a bit of pride? Just because someone is proud of what they accomplished, that doesn’t mean they suffer from hubris.

Shame on all of you for trying to say someone proud of a trophy they earned makes them a fool or bad person.

You are absolutely right, but at the end of the day they are just digital goods which have no expire day. Given that the WoW team has treated the community poor since BfA, they will go after everything they don’t find well though out. And this also includes FOMO.

At the same time we have a continuous generation shift, where new people feel treated badly and without the respect they deserve. At the same time², older players try to act like children by gatekeeping stuff, while everything is simply worthless and has no worth.

The trophy is just a sign that you did it but you don’t own it. Your accomplishment belongs to Activision-Blizzard, not you. And that’s why the whole logic behind “pixel have value” isn’t true. You don’t own the progress.

The valid is artificially inflated by the the fact the item is unobtainable.

There are current players who capable of doing that same content that garnered those rewards in the first place. Players who are willing, and dedicated enough to do them. They complete current content, they complete the current mage tower. They should have to opportunity to be able to get these old PVE rewards.

A Timewalking event would be interesting if they had reverted some of these talents back to what they were when these initial challenges came out. WOD challange mode as an example. Players talents revert into their WOD counterparts. Classes that were not available at the time of WOD couldn’t be allowed to enter, but instead be required to select a class that was present at that time.

This is what people want. They want to be able to do the content as it were to obtain the rewards. They are not asking the items for free, they are not asking to be given to them on a silver platter.

The only reason these things are exclusive is again, not because players don’t have the skill to do them. They don’t have acess to the content to earn them.

They brought back the Mage Tower, and people love it. I’ve completed it both on my Priest, and my Warlock. I intend to do every class. Imagine if they removed this current mage tower simply to make the items more “special”. That doesn’t equate to anything. It would just hurt new players ability to earn stuff.

If they brought back challenge modes, and attuned them for current play or reverted player abilities to that previous time, that isn’t for free. Again, they are only special because players are locked out of them. And thats it. Would you still complain if WoW brought back these challenge modes how they were previously? Would you still be angry if players could earn these items just as other players had?

You selectively left out all the parts of my posts where this was a trophy for completing it while it was current.

The answer is to get new trophies, not bring back old ones.

You selectively left out the part where I said they can make the same conditions back to when they were current.

The answer can be both. You can timewalk player abilities back to what they were in WOD. Their stats, and everything. And they can also make new trophies.

No, they can’t recreate the challenge and you selectively left out the part where I addressed that.

The MT is not a recreation of Legion. The legendaries and artifact weapons have been deactivated. The talents and spells have been changeed and/or removed. Nobody even uses gear you could get from Legion. It was a Legion challenge and we’re not in Legion anymore. That was 6 years ago. The trophy was for doing the challenge with all this stuff they removed, deactivated or changed.
