Everyone I know playing FFXIV has a DPS meter installed and act just as toxic there as they do here.

Bans for harassment and abusive language in game do happen… but only if people take the time to report them… unfortunately reports are few and far between for the most part, and if your in a dungeon you might very well be the only person who even files a report.
Often times the general playerbases outlook on it is “I’m not going to see them ever again anyways, so I’m just gonna ignore it.” And when you try to kick someone for being abusive the same line of thinking results in “we’ll be done with the dungeon in a minute, then you’ll never see them again… let’s just finish now instead of kicking and waiting for a replacement”

pretty much, had a ragey DH (go figure) scream at everyone for screwing up the totems in AD on a 5 when he kills his totem before everyone else kills theirs so it resets. but hey, you report them and blizz doesn’t even give them a slap on the wrist 
Well this isn’t true, you easily can get suspended for racial remarks and silenced for awhile based on reports.
Why I would defend anyones rights to be an a…hole, just do not be shocked if the reports pile up and you get an Automated silence put on your account.
People have been “nice” to me in FFXIV dungeons, but not always helpful.
The sprout channel is a poop show. I left within a few days as it seemed to just be arguments and trolling.
And I don’t buy that you haven’t experienced this before in WoW since you have unlocked a vulpera. Not like that just happens when you buy the game!

If you mean they state it in the code of conduct page, then sure. But they will not pop on and send you a whisper telling you yo knock it off. They rarely, if ever, do that anymore. But they will ban/silence you without warning, then send you a form letter.
