Cute kitties are the best!
Maybe Rathy? A shorter pet-like nickname off Wrathion. Hot black dragon, cute black cat.
Apparently cats respond well to higher pitched noises at the end of the name, that’s why they respond when you go “pss pss pss” to them.
So names that end in “y” or “ie”, like ChromIE or FluffY, would be best.
Congrats! Kittens, or even cats, are normally best in pairs. Getting them to accept another cat can be difficulty though. Just setting them free in the same room can lead to long term behavior issues.
There are many many resources out there on how to best introuduce cats (it takes a long time).
My Callie took at least a month before she would not attack the 2 kittens I got. They lived in the bathroom anyway and we did all the scent exchange, feeding on both sides of door do they associate positive things with the other cat’s smell, time in neutral territory supervised, etc.
That has possibilities as well… Thank you.
Thanks for the info… I’ll read right away. That being said the new arrival was in a foster family with other cats… So he should do ok. It is Esme my rescue from July that is having the melt down. She was also fostered with other cats but that was 6 months ago. I just wanted to wait until I had her fixed.
Correct. It is almost always the resident cat who has issues letting new kitties into their territory. Respect that and go slowly. Put kittens in a safe room with litter/food. Do the scent exchanges, positive interactions while smelling the other cats, etc. There are lots of resources out there.
My biggest regret was letting a foster out of the bathroom too early. My resident (Callie) got VERY aggressive. I did not know the cat intro rules or that it could take a month or more. I regret to this day I took him back to the shelter. He was a snuggle bug and amazing…and it was my fault I did not know how to slowly introduce cats for a positive outcome.
When I adopted kittens years later, I used the strategies and while Callie still is not usually thrilled by them, they are 99% peaceful. Just as long as they don’t try to snuggle her. heh.
Best of luck with the new kitty! I really hope it works out. This is Willow at 6 years old. She was one of the kittens.

My black cat was rescued after living under the tarp across the street for a while. Her name is basement cat. She thinks she’s feral, it’s so cute.

Cats are weird creatures.
When I was taking care of my brothers cats, my cat was wary of them for like an hour and then became BFF’s with them almost immediately. He especially loved playing with the big grumpy older cat despite being outweighed by a kilo and change.
But my SIL’s (from a different brother) cats? They’ve lived together for 10 years and barely tolerate each other. They won’t groom, they won’t cuddle, they won’t sleep in the same room and they’re just barely above hissing at each other when they see each other.
Pics, of course.

My cat is the striped, judgemental gentleman. My brothers cats are the big black boy and the smaller white girl.
So handsome and dignified. I have a long haired cat now and I can’t get any nice photos of him cause he looks and acts like a gremlin.
