So how goes the Mage Tower?

Not sure if I’ll try it again. I haven’t gone back to getting gold damage proving ground. These kinds of challenges aren’t interesting to me and only make frustrated.

Yet, I’m glad others can play it whenever. That was the whole point. It should have just stayed up. I can still do visions and IEs. Torghast should remain up too.

I did the bear challenge at level 56 and never shifted out of bear form. It’s all about handling mechanics while keeping up your dps. Practice and perseverance, and maybe some stubbornness

I had no problems, I brought cookies and punch and we are enjoying streaming while relaxing. Of course I won’t get any rewards but I also get to relax with a new friend.

The problem with the mage tower, especially the guardian fight, is that it was created with a specific toolset. So many of the things in the fight are tailored around those things.

However, when blizz recycled the MT, they just implemented it with very minimal changes yet took away all the tools that were necessary to complete the challenge.

Those who completed the challenge weren’t necessarily better players, they were just capable of somewhat working around the situation. However, 95% of the playerbase would have enjoyed the difficulty if they would have provided the correct toolset to do the fights. This doesn’t mean nerf them, rather, just provide the tools necessary for the fight.

Does it cost any resource, or you just slam your face into it at your leisure?

I might go get the Hunter Spiderman cosplay from there at some point.

Just your sanity, haha.

Ahhh, guess I won’t be doing it then. I’m fresh out.

Maybe ask your council to nerf the damn thing then?

Mileage may vary.

WW Monk, Fury Warrior, etc. absolutely curbstomp theirs. I had a relatively easy time with SPriest and figuring out Guardian Druid was fun.

Holy Priest, though? LMAO NO. Don’t do it man.

did you do guardian druid without buying tons of pots?

If I actually liked steroid bears appearance I would give it a go nonstop. But Tron bear > steroid bear who obviously skips legs day.

Nope. I crafted them myself and only really started using them once I had the thing figured out.

Plenty of people have done the challenge without Unbridled Fury, but at the end of the day it’s a massive DPS check that you have to manage defensives for.

Even during Legion I thought the Furbolgorilla appearance looked like an artist who didn’t like bears decided that Druids were probably tired of them too.

I didn’t even have this hard of a time playing elden ring . and I did not use mimic for one boss fight in that game. But spending hours on this guardian mage tower is not fun for me. So difficult beyond belief

Wouldn’t it get easier towards the end of the season when everyone has BiS gear with sockets and 4 pc?

I think the plan is to keep it hard or even make it harder as time passes, rather than allowing people to outgear it as was intended in Legion.

It defeats the purpose of reintroducing the Mage Tower if you don’t include the systems in place back when the tower was current content.

Removing all systems from BFA and SL I can completely understand and support its removal. The problem is, those who still have their Legion legendaries still have them in their bank. You can’t destroy it nor can it be used because of its power being drained at the giant sword.

You should be able to use your Legion legendaries, Artifact weapon and (maybe) the crucible for all systems from Legion to be taken into account and truly be “Timewalking”.

Yes, having everything at your disposal with those particular systems potentially made the tower much less tedious to handle, but that’s the thing, isn’t it? The more effort and time you put into something, the greater you reap rewards from your hard work. If you don’t have the systems maxed out, then yes, it would be difficult and it should be.

Those who did the content back when it was current should be rewarded for putting so much effort that was then rendered useless when BFA came.

Edit 1: Might I add further, this is a view from someone that did the Destro and Affliction challenge before the Argus patch was released. The challenge of then compared to now is far more over tuned. Bare in mind that racial abilities were also changed after Legion, so if you were a blood elf, that Arcane Torrent silence helped significantly during those challenges. You can’t do that anymore and it instead removes 1 beneficial buff.

It’s all just a dance, just like in Souls games. Once you learn the cast sequences/patterns it gets much easier.

Figure out when to HotW+Chickenweave into 1st boss, when to Incap the adds, what defensives to use on Kruul’s annihilates and when, etc.

It gets much, much easier once you figure it all out; there’s very, very little RNG that goes into it.
