So how do we feel about Divine Steed?

All mounts poof in and out from nowhere. This ability was directly lifted from the crusader steed ability in diablo 3 and I think it works fine thematically. Pallies definitely needed a sprint ability.

As for realism, we’re playing a game where talking cows shoot fireballs underwater at dragons that should be immune to that fire.

Summoning your steed out of thin air has been around in the paladin class for years in Dungeons and Dragons. In vanilla wow you even went through a quest line to summon and bind your charger, just like dnd for those that took the spell.

I like the 2nd charge baseline idea, with a moderate damage lance attack tacked on (with some tracking for sticking) to make up for that dead spot they put in our rotation.

I think it’s a more easily implemented idea than alot of the other things I’ve heard and it just screams old fashioned dnd paladin.

If you think 2 charges with two attacks is too much, you could always put the lance strike on the 2nd charge with some build up animation and sound effects for drama. And who’s to say you couldve quickly double tap it for reduced damage and a small movement buff while point blank?

Dont like real Lances? Use the Light.

Regardless there alot you could do with it to fit into the warcraft meta. Especially if Ret’s flash gives such dismal healing without its proc.

Divine Steed is garbage and needs to be deleted entirely. Can’t stand the gameplay of it.

Well first it looks goofy AF. POOF a horse out of nowhere and then it disappears out from under us with shocking quickness. Truly a mark of embarrassment on the side of the team creating spell visuals.

Second is it’s on the GCD. Which feels terrible, and the movement duration is not enough to make up for that fact. Often when you use steed, and reach your target you still need to wait to be able to use a skill. It also prevents us from using blessing of freedom which are often needed in conjunction to the boosted movement speed.

All in all, if a spell looks AND feels bad then it’s a bad spell. No excuses.

Paladins are a cool class and there is so much that can be done as an alternative. Unfortunately we have to wait until the dev team gets bored of packing Demon Hunters with every single tool in the game so they can remain top tier in any facet.

I like the idea of a lance charge.

I find the dh dash to make more sense for a ret that is using light, since light is the fastest speed an object can move in the universe.

Haha! I totally was going to say I pull it out of my horse pocket, but wasn’t sure anyone would get it

How about a dash forward like Demonhunters but on a mount of light with a lance.

I love it. Nice callback to when the Pally mounts were spells.

Worst gap closer ever made for ret

Honestly the worst ability, both gameplay wise and aesthetic wise, ever put into the game, for any class or spec. Absolutely hate it. And would honestly rather nothing, than have it.

Not a fan of Divine Steed. Visually or mechanically. I could prolly get over the animation if it broke roots and snares on use but…nah…

What I would like to see is either Pursuit of Justice or preferably Long Armn of the Law make a come back.

Speaking of a Lance Charge, how about Divine Steed being changed to act like the lance charge from the Argent Crusade Tournament Dungeon and Dailies. But without the need for a target on a lower CD. Maybe even give a small speed boost afterwards. It would be as affected snares then.

This ability is a joke.

Honestly, this is hard evidence that Blizzard needs to separate the Diablo 3 and WoW development team.

In a tiny cave? Poof 5 ton Kodo
Standing completely still on Patchwerk? Poof 5 ton kodo
Ragnaros knocking you up in the air 20 yards? Poof 5 ton kodo
Standing to close to a box? Poof 5 ton kodo…oops never mind it’s gone.

It’s so obnoxious and complete trash for WoW thematically. Why there at least hasn’t been a Speed of Light glyph to replace this terrible ability is beyond me.

Can’t have the fun and useful resource mechanic from Diablo 3 but have to have this stupid horse and even more stupid Holy Power. Sounds right for Ret.

Why not use their existing angelic wings to rush forward ala Tyrael

TAKE IT OFF THE GCD. Slowed, and gotta move? Better freedom quick! Oh you cant its on gcd. Ok, now that youve used freedom you can move at walking speed, but that’s super slow, you better hit steed, oh wait you cant because its on gcd. Just kidding you died 3 seconds ago.

That’s why I always take Unbound Freedom, its far more reliable than Divine Steed for mobility and it helps allies. The only problem is its useless in pve unless you give up your main essence slot for weaker dps.
I mostly just end up holding on to Divine Steed and mainly just use Unbound Freedom for gaps closing. That and most of the time Steed isn’t useable or its on CD, which is most of the time.

#1 Divine steed should not be on the GCD
#2 You should be able to slot a favorite mount into divine steed
#3 Divine steed should actually mount you, following normal mount rules, at the end of 3 seconds if you’re in an outside area

If they took it off the gcd and made it remove slows, id be fine with it. As it is, its garbage. It should also be a way to mount instantly out of combat. If youre outdoors and out of combat, it should just mount you.
