So did patch 8.2 redeem retail WoW at all for any of you?

I do not dislike to lore delivery aspect of retail.
I do not dislike the cut scenes.
I do not dislike the alternative ways to play the game. (Pet battles exc)
I do not dislike the mini-games; in fact I quite like them.

What I cannot stand is the reward system, class design and to a lesser extend the focus on your character as the hero of the story. It is like they took all of the story elements from Star Wars the Old Republic and made them 99% worse. In SWTOR I have agency over the story path and my choices have consequences. In BFA I got to name a ship… /s thrilling /s

Despite all of this fluff this game lacks entertainment. It is beyond boring. After 45 min of 8.2 I got bored and logged off to finish watching a TV series.

Conversely Classic Stress Test I looked at the clock and 3 hours had passed. I was leveling and having a good time. After my son logged out I decided I was going to go tame a cat that had to be summoned by a horde player… hours later I had the Cat… I did not get preraid BIS in that time, I did not unlock a new set of chore quests… I tamed a cat… I had a GOOD TIME…

I agree with you that the class design is very lacking right now. I do feel like things might start moving in a positive direction, now that Ion is even coming out publicly stating that Blizzard has gone too far in a negative direction class-wise.

Not in the slightest… If anything looking at the new neck-system I’m less inspired than ever to give a damn.

That being said, I’ve unlocked the dailies on a character and will grind out pathfinder pt 2 before classic launches, just in case I like the next expansion more. I’m not overly optimistic about that happening, however.

It doesn’t help that beta is really stalling out right now active population wise… and I don’t want to risk burning myself out by pushing a 3rd character to 40 there… so part of the reason I’m doing the pathfinder grind is simply out of lack of better options… I’d argue pvp needs the most testing on beta right now, particularly regard to the rediculous amounts of terrain exploits, but there simply aren’t enough people to get games popping frequently enough to really hammer away at it.

What is the abusable enchant!?!

For information purposes only. :innocent:

for me, it’s cool content made by great people, that’s utterly ruined by the underlying systems. I made it about 3 hours before going back to the beta.

no one talks.
no one forms parties outside of group finder, and even then no one talks.
I have to level a “friend” npc bodyguard when I’d rather have a game thats designed around being social like vanilla.

I can’t stand chasing ilevel when the gear keeps getting reset. what’s the point.

I was very very tempted to get back into wow this patch…

Ultimately though BFA has taken a big steaming dump on the horde and I just cant justify supporting that. Even if there are micro content areas like nazajatar and mechagon I would enjoy, they broke Saurfang made him a coward traitor and reject everything his character stood for shoe horning characters into a garrosh 2.0 storyline.

Everytime I think about “Morally Grey”, you deliberately and blatantly lied to the playerbase as a community management exercise. That should come with consequences.

It wasn’t the actual level so much as what I had to do to get it. Click a few buttons, punch some giant rock in the face. Boom 26 levels for free. Pretty sad, really.

I would’ve lost my sanity had I tried to grind out 35 levels from the start so I applaud your perseverance but it also makes me somewhat disappointed in what WoW has become.

The writers are terrible, it seems Blizzard only has only 2 stories now, either Garrosh story or Kerrigan Story. Also I will never play Alliance :man_shrugging:

Am I allowed to enjoy BfA AND look forward to Classic?

Sure. I don’t understand how you enjoy BfA but everyone is different.

Yes you are. and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

This binary concept some have is just disappointing.

Look at my glorious transmog!

Oh … it arrived?

These are my gripes with classic/blizzard as well. I really do not want to give Blizzard more money, as I still feel cheated for having bought BFA in the first place.
That said, I’ll probably see the lot of you in August anyway.

i haven’t played through mechagon yet but isn’t that story going to be about saving the world from the king turning the everyone into robots?

You must be playing the crap out of it, then. I’ve spend several hours both yesterday and today and just barely got to Mechagon. About 10 hours of playing and pretty much everything I’ve done has been new. Doesn’t feel very gated yet.

A lot better than the way they did it in Legion where you got 10 minutes of content per week for 3 months.

Nope. It pretty much showed me blizzard was doubling down on the things I truly disliked about the game. It is a master piece but man where it is wrong it is really wrong. Made it much easier to leave IMHO.

to early to say since time-gating is a thing.

i don’t know i hav’t even played the first part of BFA just hit 120 a few weeks ago
