I mean, anyone can use Void already. There’s a ton of quests where you use Void as well as a few dozen on-use trinkets for it.

Not to mention Shadow Priest still has a bunch of Holy spells.

Anyone who thought Light and Shadow were totally incompatible was kidding themselves.

I would be happy with even just more hero classes. Lots less work than an entire new spec.

Paladin is a plate wearing priest, so shadow paladins should be a thing. The only difference is they traded up daggers for swords or I call it, bigger dagger to make up for other shortcomings.

Adding another void spec to the game would be the most boring thing they could possibly do. They just gave us void demon hunters. Shadow priests are already a thing. Affliction locks too…

Somehow , it just happened during the questline.
Yet Umbric says that he can’t wield the Void.

Funny thing is that the “it was sheer luck” line in response to Lor’themar’s question, “How could he do that as a paladin of the Light without a violent reaction?”, decanonized Disc Priests and Aeonara Dawnshade again.

The last time I did that, I got kicked out of the internet cafe. Apparently they didn’t like the sounds I was making. “Disturbing the other patrons” or some nonsense.

Honestly, probably how they’ll explain Void Elf and Forsaken Paladins and “All Races all Paladins” will be a selling point of TLT and have their starting “zone” be us having to help push back the remains of the rampaging scourge.

Arator likely could always use the Void, he just never did before.
Anduin was shown (in a book) to, at least be able to, call on it too.

The writers are trying awfully hard to hint that Arator is following the whole ‘child of prophecy’ trope:

First, Arator was terrible as a Paladin until he yelled at his dad and threw him under the bus to get head pats from his real dad, Lor’themar.

Second, every ‘master’ acknowledges Arator in some profound way despite Arator doing absolutely zilch.

Thirdly, Umbric blurts the obvious out loud that Arator is the ‘son of Light and Shadow’ despite Turalyon wasn’t a Paladin and Alleria didn’t eat a Dark Naruu at the time of conception, so I don’t know why he would say that.

It’s just another awful plot point that the dullards here are going to try to hand-wave away like they usually do.
