They wouldn’t have faced any legal issues, it was more of a PR move.
Shadowlands shall be the first expansion to break the pattern of good bad good bad expansion. Bfa bad and soon enough Shadowlands bad.

I have hopes, but I’m not very optimistic. The Hunter prune (and RSV removal) in pre-Legion broke my heart. My expectation is that they will add Hunter’s Mark and call it good. I really, really, really hope they do something cool with hunters (like add RSV back in - it was my main spec for almost a decade), but I am not getting my hopes up. I’ve basically skipped two expansions now (just now leveling up my hunter in between Classic raids), and I suspect I will be skipping a third too.
tl;dr I don’t trust anything Ion says. I’m waiting to see what they really do.

If you’re gonna be incorrect, at least do it with some style.
Nobody was banned for trying to help people get refunds but for telling them how to do chargebacks as a way to get around refunds, which is ToS issue.
Only some refunds were denied, not all and that was a non issue once they automated it.
As for false advertisement, big stretch.

This is an American product made by an American company with its largest player base in America, I really don’t care what Australia does and to be fair, neither does Blizzard lol.

For me the announced features are looking better than BFA already. BFA AI thing seem like they want an infinitely replayable content. But they didn’t want to copy FFXIV. So, the AI was a difference just to be difference. Now they just back to copy FFXIV with vision and torghast.
I feel like they did have some idea about expanding the AI into other contents too. But they probably realized it’s didn’t add much early on.

Remember as we have been through this exact argument before, no suit has ever been successfully filed against an American video game company for false advertisement. Yet, being the operative word. Especially not one from outside of America. Hell, Australia has been trying to nail EA for FIFA for years and keeps failing.
The most Australia ever did was hit Steam for their refund policy.
