Turalyon’s role as Anduin’s stand in is irrelevant. Anduin is a Priest. Blizzard has made no changes to the in-game lore or out of game lore to say otherwise.
Anduin, for all intents and purposes, is a Priest wearing a cosmetic transmog.

it’s already been long known that Lore NPCs aren’t constrained by class/spec boundaries… there are numerous npcs who are multi-class and multi-spec. this is nothing new or nothing special. There are even instances of npcs who are classes which aren’t even playable or are race/class combos that players can’t be.
For example, trall is both a shaman and a warrior. sylvanas is all 3 specs of hunter at once (using spells exclusive to each spec including spells removed from the game). There’s Tyrande, she is a priest, hunter, and a warrior who uses demon hunter weapons. Malfurion is both a sorcerer and a druid. Rexxar is a hunter whose a warrior with his two one handed axes, a survival hunter, and a BM hunter with a bow. Drakka is both a warrior and a rogue.
Paladins aren’t just Priests with Warrior training, they go a little bit deeper than that.
But for now, that’s all Anduin is. He’s a Priest trained be Velen and a Warrior trained by Genn.
He might be a Paladin later, but for now he’s a Priest, regardless of what some stand-in NPC might say.
Nah, it’s not even Turalyon leading SW in Anduins absence. It’s literally just the dude arguing that because the generic NPC of Anduin you see when other people are doing the Maw intro is a Paladin, Anduin is a Paladin.
Not sure how this would surprise anyone. He wears heavy armor and uses a sword…
Guys, stop assuming his class. It’s 2021 for petes sake.
Anduin is whatever Blizz wants him to be at the time.
The whole “NPCs don’t have to fit classes” thing is just Blizzard stating the obvious; people can do/be more than one thing. The players just can’t due to game mechanics. lol
You can be an engineer and an electrician. You could be a priest and a paladin. lol
Anyway, he fits most if not all of the traditional paladin/cleric tropes. You can call him what you want (because it really doesn’t matter) but he can definitely be classified as a paladin–or a cleric or a priest–should someone so choose.
And when Blizzard shows in-game, or in a novel, that Anduin has become a Paladin, then we can say “Anduin’s a Paladin now”.
(They’re 3.5e Wizards who missed the memo they’re not playing D&D)
Lol @ all the useless semantics arguing:
WELL AKKSHUALLY HE’S NOT A PALLY BECAU-
Bro uses full plate armour with a sword and uses holy magic
You should write a sternly worded letter to Blizz!
My theory is that his class is King (covers the armor and weapons) and his spec is priest. Thus the combo feel.
Who cares what the supposed name is. Functionally he fits the mould of an armored knight that also wields holy magic in combat.
Anduin is a Warlock. I dunno wtf the rest of ya’ll are talking about. Learn some god damn lore.

Anduin is a Priest with a cool cosmetic transmog. That’s all. See, I can be a Priest in plate with a sword and holy magic too! And use the void on top of that!
Yeah he’s a paladin.
Most paladins started out as priests. It’s how paladins were made.
I mean he even wears plate and has a sword, duh.
If you want to go into depth, he’s both priest and paladin, as paladins are simply priests who also fight (close range, like with a weapon) in lore.
Same as Sylvanas is like hunter+dk.
And how Thrall is warrior+shaman.
Anduin is a Battle Priest (Warrior Priest)
through the power of rhetoric introspection and persuasion anduin can become all the classes he needs to be whenever the story calls for it
It’s just another bug or oversight.
Wears plate armor, with a two handed sword and weilds the light?
He’s a pally.
