Slowly Warming Up to the Crafting in TWW

So, in a few threads on here, I’ve been rather vocally against TWW’s crafting system.

I’m inching closer to the fence, though, as I have made large strides of progress now that I’ve been given some advice on how to understand the (what I thought of at the time) convoluted crafting system.

I still don’t think I understand ALL of it just yet, but enough that I’ve been making progress, and the crafts on a few of my characters are starting to come along.

I will say though, that even though I did make a couple pieces of purple gear for my characters with Fortune, they are… rather underpowered from the looks of things. People talk about making really powerful stuff, but I only managed to get about ~624 out of it which is like, barely endgame (the Arathi dailies give 626 I think?).

Now it’s kinda nice to make stuff since you can choose what slot to make, but it still seems underpowered.

And for some weird reason, you can’t upgrade it with stones and crests like you could with other gear? Not really getting that part of it.

One thing I will say is REALLY nice though: Not needing TWO sets of crafters, one horde and one alliance as everything is Warbound now with the Warbank helping loads.

Crafted gear is upgraded by recrafting with enchanted crests you purchase off a vendor. Instead of incremental upgrades, it goes up in one shot to the maximum for that enchanted crest.

So if you have say a 658 item level piece and you upgrade it, it goes straight to 675 (or 681 with the Turbo boost augmentation device). That’s why valorstones and crests aren’t applicable.

The enchanted crests you purchase have crest costs, but a lump sum versus incremental steps.

Given the proper number of crests, i.e. 60 gilded, you can craft a brand new item straight to 675.

Crafting is too expensive they should reduce all materials costs by at least 50%

Just tossing my concentration burn idea here, but it would, at least for me lol, be nice if I could burn the currency on a Mcgyver like model where it takes less materials, provides more KP (up to a catch-up threshold, so brand new expansion crafts don’t really accelerate but season 2 / 3 is huge leaps of KP), but is also bound to your character (and perhaps is buffed further for things older than the current expansion). So you can self craft your own stuff very reasonably and make huge catch-ups.

Maybe helpful for old stuff too where it’s a whole bunch of an item no one is gathering anymore, so with the empowered Mcgyver mode it takes quite a bit less material (will still be warbound though).

Then those who want to make gold will use it the regular method / crafting gear (and will cost more resources, keeping most of the market spinning as usual).

I like how i can craft relevant up to date gear up to mythic level each season.

I hate the system as implemented. Convoluted to get into, tons of gold to level professions, tons of gold to buy mats and now tons of gold to upgrade 6 extra ilvl on multiple crafted pieces across multiple toons.

I will be happy to pay you to craft for me but I can’t bring myself to grind out leveling crafting myself.
