So, I’m trying to figure out what’s going on.
However recently in WoW, it takes forever to enter zones such as Legion Dalaran… and even some Time Walking dungeons.
Taking 5 to 10minutes in some cases and to the point I have been kicked by the group by the time it fully loads.
This happened multiple times today when trying to join Time Walking Dungeons, the Fire Lands raid, and even Legion Raids when summoned into or to the stone.
(Connection is 120Mbps down and 12Mbps up. 51 Home/59 world latency
Could be worth moving to an SSD. Even since I got an NVME m2 SSD card the loading screen is basically a thing of the past (except Dalaran which loads fast but still takes a hot sec)
Hard drives could be subject to fragmentation and are slower.
I’ve been encountering the same problem, but it seems to be totally random and sporadic, not consistent. It usually happens when I try to go to subzones like Legion class halls or the WoD garrison. Sometimes, all I can do is kill the client program after minutes of being stuck at a loadscreen and restart it again.
Yeah that’s your problem right there. Ever since legion theres dramatically more data that has to be loaded in (Dalaran for example loads the entire Broken Isles) . To be honest I don’t even know how you’re even staying sane without an SSD. There is literally no bigger upgrade that you could put in your computer if you’re coming from an HDD.
Been said, but I’ll reiterate: get yourself an SSD. I grabbed a 500gb SSD towards the end of BfA and I have seen a WORLD of difference. Moved my OS and WoW folder over and kept everything else on my bigger HHD. WoW performance, and overall computer performance have def improved.
On a side note, it would be nice if Blizzard offered some kind of split installation for those of us with tiny SSDs - most used files on SSD and lesser used files on HD.
TBH:
I didn’t think having all my games on a single HD would slow the loading of one game as much as it did.
I’d regularly defrag, and clean the drive but WoW would be slow AF. Though the computer was also a decade old at that point.
