Fact is Shimmer’s nerf coupled with the significant amount of micromovement requirements makes Slipstream the obvious choice.
But as I’ve outlined in the OP, we shouldn’t have to make that choice.
It would be like if Frost/Fire talented into making BF/Pyro instant.
I’ve actually never used Shimmer, even when it was better. Slipstream just feels correct to me. But they’ve had a good while to implement this, which really should’ve been an easy thing to think of when redesigning Arcane.
I think TotM should also give at least one CC proc to go with the Slipstream suggestion, because getting your burst window interrupted by mechanics is sickening.
Honestly,this makes so much sense I would love to hear Blizzard’s argument for not putting it in. It’s not like we are dominating ST fights with little to no movement right now anyways. A tool to marginally increase our mobility during raid would be a huge boon to this underrepresented and underappreciated spec.
Please Blizzard, just do some positive things to the Arcane spec that so many of us love because of its uniqueness.
There is no argument. I can’t think of a reasonable counterargument.
Shimmer versus Slipstream has never been a consideration for me. I clicked on Slipstream and won’t consider switching away. I know I would unintentionally interrupt many Arcane Missile and Evocation casts if I tried to switch back and forth.
On the topic of movement, could Presence of Mind be changed to benefit both DPS and movement? How about changing it to award one or more stacks of Clearcasting? Let it be used mid-cast like Ice Floes. With Slipstream baseline it would provide for movement when needed. If PoM then had more than one charge, could it then be used to both help with bad RNG heading into a burn while still leaving some charges for movement?
The cooldown and recharge rate could be adjusted to keep it from being too strong. If necessary a 5-10 second reuse limiter could be placed on it to simply prevent dumping all charges into an upcoming burn.
Either way, I wish Slipstream was baseline.
