*Slaps money on table Kramer style* I'm out!

I’ve uninstalled. I’ve unsubbed. No you can’t have my gold cause I’m a poor a** and don’t have any anyway.

I’m writing this because I’ve been directed to, and despite my distaste for the game right now, I’m hoping that enough people will speak out so we can get some change.

At some point I think the dev team looked around, saw that other games were doing open world content better than them, and with better graphics and decided that they would double down on turning WoW into an esport. I imagine suits somewhere in a board room have seen the success of MOBA’s and thought to themselves that competitive M+ could get them a piece of that pie. At some point the people who had a vision for this game left.

I believe we’re experiencing the third generation rule in WoW. The people who have inherited or bought it, don’t respect the original vision and don’t value it because they didn’t build it.

Wasn’t Shadowlands supposed to be the apology tour for BFA? What happened?

I can understand that the devs were working under the stress and new circumstances of a global pandemic, no one can fault them for that. However, it seems like they just blatantly ignore the community these days, and press forward with whatever directive they’ve been given. To be clear, I don’t blame Ion or any person in particular for this. I imagine, as in most other corporate positions, they have metrics and KPI’s they have to meet, and the game is now designed around them keeping their jobs (no blame there either), than making a fun product.

On top of it all, the difficulty layers you’ve instilled mixed with the loot scarcity has created divides in the community instead of cohesion. This only exasperates the problems that already existed.

So here is my plea:

Keep your M+, and mythic raids, and crazy systems, but throw a bone to those of us that like the world of warcraft. Give us player housing. Give us guild housing that we can decorate with our achievements. Give us things to do in the open world that offers progression in other areas than gear progression. Make zones feel expansive again. There was a charm to just riding along a road with just posts and trees around because it made the world feel large and real. Put in a zone completion system. Hide little nooks and crannies and caves to discover and loot and check off that list. Add some public dungeons with rare crafting materials. Make crafting engaging and worthwhile.

Stop resting on your laurels and rise up to the potential that this game has.

Hopefully, I’ll see you all in 10.0. Until then /wave.
