because the two characters have never met and yet they are constantly compared to each other like they are the same person. Jaina, garrosh, Sylvanas all look at anduin as if he was the second coming and yet the two characters have never interacted in any way.
Your comparisons fall short because aang and zuko are two very different upbringing and different back grounds and different looks. Anduin and arthas however both wielders of the light, both princes of the kingdom, both traumatic back grounds and with lofty expectations placed on them and both have similar physicality and looks. They could be the same person and consistently compared to each other by characters who had involvement with arthas like jaina and sylvanas.
what? when was anduin ever raised as a slave and gladiator? when has anduin ever have to kill a friend?
It is not my comparison, that is what the creators of those respective shows did with those characters. There is a reason why we get their full backstories in the same episode. Season 1 Episode 12, The Storm. That being Aang and Zuko. As for Catra and Glimmer, it is why they are ultimately alone together at the end of Season 4 and why they both are trapped on Horde Primes flagship at the start of season 5. Both their actions led to Horde Prime finding Etheria and now, they have to live with that fact. They both alienated their friends, Catra knew the risks of opening an unstable portal but did so anyway (season 3), Glimmer knew the risks of bringing âbalanceâ back to Etheria but did so anyway. All because they âwanted to win at all costsâ.
And?, two characters do not have to meet to have similar arcs. Did Garrosh and Arthas ever meet face to face? Nope. I never saw Garrosh whenever Arthas was on screen. Did you? Show me where it is stated that in order for two characters to be compared to each other they MUST be
related
have met
You keep moving the goalposts because what I am saying is true. Also the only time Iâve seen Anduin being compared to Arthas in universe is when Anduin mistakes Garrosh in War Crimes. You know, the very scene where Garrosh actually says he was comparing himself to Arthas. I wonder why you ignored that comparisonâŚ
Both went through depression arcs that made them lose faith in themselves and thus their respective beliefs. Thrall in Legion, BFA and early Shadowlands felt unworthy of Doomhammer and thus elements because what Garrosh said was true. Thrall did fail him. Anduin had lost faith in himself and thus the light because of what Zovaal did to him. And how Anduin, on some level enjoyed it. There is a reason why Thrall was ultimately the one who met Anduin in Silithus after all. He knows what Anduin is going through.
I wouldâve thought that was obvious with me saying âreplace Garrosh with dominationâ but you proved me wrong. Congrats I guess lol.
you could argue that a large amount of people are dead due to both of their daddy issues, but yeah, its tenuous at best.
Anduin going âoh yeah, probably shouldnât have tried to emulate my dad when global tensions were breaking outâ was far more introspection than Arthas ever gave himself.
Iâll say that if Anduin slept with Jaina and led her to believe he was going to propose to her only to give her the âLetâs Just Be Friendsâ speech the next day, it would come off as FAR creepier than when Arthas did the same thing.
Hey, the problem wasnât that Arthas never had introspection, it was that he frequently drew the wrong conclusion about said introspection. Like the time that he blamed himself for the death of his horse so much that he decided he would sacrifice anything to save or protect others, no matter the cost, even if there was a sign saying âdo not pick up the cursed sword, itâs a bad ideaâ.
Ah yes, the Arthas Menethil guide on how to talk to your girlfriend:
-Step 1: meet her privately when youâre both dressed up fancy for a royal ball to celebrate Winter Veil
-Step 2: compliment her by telling her she looks like a candle
-Step 3: panic when she makes a comment about hypothetical future children
-Step 4: break off the relationship and ask if you can still be friends
-Step 5: Profit? WaitâŚ
Its been so long since iâv read arthas, i genuinly just remember it being the book that canonised the undercity existing long before the forsaken ever did
