At the current cost of SSD drives, you really should invest in replacing any older mechanical drives you are still using.
I have WoW running from an SSD and while it did load the cities faster, it’s not god-like speed or difference.
I run 2 tb of ssd and 4 tb of hdd, seems like a fair balance, HDD gets all the non game crap.

You should get an SSD.
For intents and purposes they are an evolution of hard drives. And eventually they’ll replace hard drives outright.

Oh I converted one of my larger HHDs into an external backup and storage drive but I removed all of them from any computer I use.
One of the most important reason to use SSD is heating issues from spinning HDs.
I travel very often, and can only play on laptops. Before swapping to SSD, playing over a few hours will cause my laptop to heat incredibly.
Using SSD will ensure longevity for your very laptop itself.
My case has like 12 bays and my mb has 2 m.2 slots and 6 sata connections lol, i really don’t feel the need to take them out.

I remember watching my friend play Total Warhammer 2 on her HDD and it was causing me pain with how long it took to load into a mission and then back to the map once you finish a mission on a HDD.

Upgrading to an SSD and a new CPU made that game so much more enjoyable. Great game.

I wouldn’t say over a decade, my first SSD was around that time and they cost about a dollar per gig back then.
Put it this way though, a lot of people buy pre-built systems, some of the prebuilt places are still selling AMD bulldozer cpus…

I love Warhammer but I cannot play RTS games which annoys me to no end because Total Warhammer looks to be exactly what I want but lucky for me my aforementioned friend loves RTS games and is actually good at them but she plays Skaven like a degenerate whereas I am a Empire man and she plays Skaven deliberately just to annoy me.
Out of all the factions, I like Tomb Kings the best. Their monster roster is just too good.
I only like base building RTS, which is where RTS is failing recently 
but man is the C&C remaster fun.

You’ll love it. An HDD to SSD upgrade is one thing I never worry about overhyping to someone who hasn’t done it yet. It really is that big a difference.

It also doesn’t hurt that Settra is a beast I would wager either.
I have a home server machine for cold storage, Plex streaming, etc with a bunch of spinning rust HDs in it since speed doesn’t matter there. Anything that doesn’t fit on my main computer’s SSD isn’t accessed too frequently and can happily live on the server, so it works pretty well.
I plan on doing that some day, for fun mostly.
I like building PCs lol, even if they’re not for me. It’s like adult lego’s
