Skin customization question in regards to community feedback

I think you’re just a Blizzard simp who is fine with Laziness tbh. Enjoy your Stormwind leftovers and never having a unique identity in the WoW universe that isn’t occupied by a heavily accented trolls that make Voodoo jokes in their click dialogue.

I’m the racist one though, lmao.

“Stop trying to give black people an actual culture and heritage”.

The question becomes do you want to represent their culture and heritage as an in-game faction, to give them a window to express their own cultural representation, or do you just want skin color on your toons ?

We’re not talking a single NPC that might have immigrated as a 1st, 2nd or 3rd or more generation immigrant here, we’re talking an entire race’s representation.

Why do you just want skin color tokenism ?

Still waiting for your take on Americans making the best Samurai game of 2020, a feat you claimed impossible.

I want to enjoy being treated like a normal human and not somehow “no, you’re completely different from normal humans. And you have to be unlocked because you’re different from normal human beings. Only white humans are normal humans, you have to be a ‘shadowiron human’ or something.”
Because that’s what you guys are saying when you say black people need to be different. That the “human” slot is for white people, and for black people you need to be some different, “not-quite human” human.

Nah, you’re making up things now, I only say allied race because that’s just what they call the new races. I don’t think there should be an unlock thing. I just want effort put into the game I pay 15 dollars a month for.

Also yes, other people have different cultures. This isn’t shocking or a bad thing.

And do you not see how racist going
“These are humans because they’re white. These are Mutant humans because they’re black” is?

Wow, lying some more. I’ve never called Black people mutants. The hell is actually wrong with you?

If you think other people having a different culture is a bad thing I think you’re a very strange individual.

Recognizing your people’s heritage and culture IS treating you like a normal human, rather than just some different colored member of your current national affiliation.

You can put literally ANY adjective and modifier in front of it, but that doesn’t change the fact that your idea portrays black people as some kind of “Other” that doesn’t fit in with your definition of a “human”
Because they’re not “Stormwind humans” in game, they’re just “humans” that happen to be from Stormwind. All humans use that same model, even the obviously black Brother Pike from Kul Tiras

But that’s what I am. I’m a black american. That’s my culture and heritage, the same as every other american, more or less. Just because I’m black and american doesn’t mean I do the voodoo rasta like a jamaican every day. That’s stereotyping, and that’s racist as I don’t know what.

So wait do you think Kul’tirans are not humans?

Kul Tirans are 7-8’ tall and built like brick houses. They are definitely not normal humans by our definitions, hence justifying they’re treatment as some kind of ‘Not-quite-normal’ human.
That’s the thing. You want to make black people an allied race type thing and, even if you don’t mean it, you’re basically saying they’re ‘not-quite-normal’ humans.

Did you just call Africans Mutants ? Wow dude. Wow.

Kul’tirans are humans. Hell Jaina IS a Kul’tiran. They look so different because it’s a cartoon world and it gives them flavor. Also I’m in favor of changing the human race name from human to Stormwindian or whatever they want to call themselves because it limits what you can do with the human race.

There shouldn’t just be one culture for all humans. It’s lazy and makes the world small. How the hell do Orcs have more cultural differences between their clans Than humans do? It makes literally no sense.

Also that Jamaican stereotype is literally in the game right now.

You’re arguing against somebody that doesn’t exist btw. You think I want Blacks to be seen as something less than human when I don’t. I want their cultural influences to not just be tied to beast races and in the case of Asians, stupid pandas.

It’s kinda sad that the only cultural familiarity some people can feel to their character is tied to Trolls and Pandas. If somebody wants to play themselves with a race that has a similar heritage they can’t. There character will always be tied to the Nordic/Eurocentric humans that currently exist because Blizzard is lazy.

Oh wow, that is you. I actually had a response before the last thread died.
First: I’m not Japanese, so if they loved it, that’s good for them.
BUT
As I said repeatedly last thread, it’s important to have people from that culture on your team so you can make it right. And guess what: That’s exactly what they did. They asked Sony for a LOT of consultants, and hired their own to make sure they got everything right. Including interviews.
Which is exactly what I said that people should do to avoid misrepresenting other cultures.

They made it right. They’re Americans.

I know you’re too racist to realise this : because people of different cultures can understand each other if only they put in the effort.

I’m have massive issues with trolls.

Because they’re also racist stereotypes. In fact, they play into the EXACT racial sterotypes so often suffered by practitioners of Vudou. The stereotype of dark magic and cannibalism in Vudou was born by slaves owners, who wanted to stamp out the old religion. Vudou itself actually heavily incorporates Christian saints because it was a way to practice their old beliefs under the eyes of their maters. The troll stereotypes are terrible.

Actually, they only serve to make my argument stronger- I don’t want Blizzard pulling anything else from the culture of my people. Who knows what new lazy ways they’re ruin it.

It literally blows my mind that we as black folks are saying “This is good. This is the representation we want.” And people are responding with “No it’s not.”

Like We just want to exist in a space without explanation other than ‘We’re human.’

It’s a good thing.

Hey there sexy lady!!!

You don’t get to own the final say on opinions regarding the game. I don’t care if you’re fine with Blizzard’s laziness. I’m not.

As I’ve said, they had a LOT of input from Japanese developers and consultants from Japan to make sure they represented it right.
From their own interview:

Jason Connell: It was one of the biggest challenges for our team since we are primarily based in Seattle, Washington. That’s not predominantly our culture or upbringing, so we involved Sony Japan a lot, asked them for a lot of feedback on adjusting the story and characters. We hired historians and cultural consultants to get the mannerisms of feudal Japan right.

The thing they did that was the most helpful was that Joanna and I both got to go to Japan with a hired historian to take us around Japan and Tsushima island for ten days. It really helped us understand the world we were creating and I don’t think we could’ve made a game without those major steps.

So you’re literally arguing with me that they didn’t do exactly what I said they should of done while they went ahead and did just that.

Any other argument on how the game was made past this point is literal denial.

Here’s the interview

I don’t know, but I wish people would push more to unlock the skin colors from faces. There’s a human face I love, but it only has three skin color options available. :frowning:

As a French Canadian, I’d be pretty pissed off if my “representation” was just a typical Anglo-Canadian. My culture, my heritage and my history is very different from theirs.
