Skateboard mount

I’ve argued for something like a Skateboard mount for a while, but only for use indoors. Too many older dungeons especially have a lot of empty space, especially if you’re running them only for transmogs, and being able to get through that faster would be much easier.

Now that would be interesting in a dungeon ,I wonder how that would play out

And then you talk to a bunch of NPCs about how their kids are going to love this new style of content called Mythic +

along with a whale 8 peoples giant mount, it would be a mounts options option.

I don’t see Blizzard giving us skateboard mounts without paying through the nose for it.

The gnomes and goblins would like to have a word with you…

Big chonky gnome/goblin wheels like an offroad skateboard and if you wanted to make a flying variation to it, add some of the thrusters from other flying gnome mounts and make it a Back to the Future hoverboard.

I haven’t seen any rideable robotic Emu birds in real life yet, and i also haven’t seen one of those steampunk esque bikes goblins use either. I would argue that they aren’t exactly real life mounts. Even the mekgineers chopper is highly stylized and quite crude looking.

You don’t see it? A bunch of plates welded together with funky wheels and rockets behind it?

Considering your server i’m not sure i want to see a single thing you see, My Moonguard friend.

I thought something was wrong when my profile didn’t update! I’m in Wyrmrest-Accord now!

Also, ad hominem foul. Yellow card.

Well they aren’t far off from it over at the DARPA and Boston Dynamics labs lol…

Isn’t that another big roleplay server? Just…Less sexual roleplay?

please don’t take offense, i’ve seen some troubling things in moonguard when my old server was briefly linked with it before i switched to Sargeras.

Eh, they can make prototypes, but mass producing any of those robots are quite a while away i think.

As an engineer(the robotics kind), I can very easily say that mass production of them wouldn’t even be a challenge, outside of the battery/energy storage requirements. The challenge is in controller end of things that handles all the sensor data, stabilization and motor planning. Almost all of the sensors they use for “seeing the world around them” are actually pretty cheap. I want to say it was either DARPA or BD that was using Microsoft Kinects for their spatial mapping. That’s right, <$200 USD video game console accessory.

In order to bother with mass producing, there has to be a demand though. Some company isn’t just going to dump 10s of millions into making an assembly line, if there’s no demand for the product. Not even accounting for all the overhead of the RnD teams.

Corporations are always eager to save money in every way they can, which is why the battery problem with be an issue i think with mass production.
Why buy and pay for the upkeep of a robot to do something when you can pay a third world immigrant to do it for cheaper?

Well the point is that the actual mass production of them wouldn’t be hard at all. If a car plant can pump out hundreds of whole cars per day, they can pump out some rideable cassowaries(surprised there still isn’t a mount for these in game yet) at similar or far greater rates.

The battery issue just factors into the cost for now and the duration of the device, like EVs didn’t become a common thing until they broke the 100-200 mile per charge range, which eventually drove the cost down, due to there being more demand now.

Anyways, that’s enough 5am engineering rambling from me. Point still stands, WoW can handle a gnomish/goblinish skateboard/hoverboard mount without being some immersion breaking apocalypse.

If they make it look actually believable and give it some sort of Gnomish steampunk style, i’d be okay with it. But adding in a normal real world skateboard like they did in archage, i cannot support.

I plead the 5th.

If we get a skateboard mount can the vendor be Tony Hawk? And could he give us a tutorial on how to do cool tricks?

Not to derail too much, but out of curiosity:

When you look at the general tenor of discourse on these forums, there is a huge list of terms that should not be used as pejoratives. Obviously I can’t list them. But however you feel about this situation, why is it still considered OK to use “edgelord” as a pejorative? Seems kind of funky to me.
