Single target rotation help

Been doing a lot of raiding… was finally just getting ok with my usual #7 - 10 on the dmg meter… seemed to be my lot in life… don’t see a lot of Warlocks on the raid / pug life circuit. So I figured I was doing ok at iLvl 396. I have the standard Demonology build with Tyrant and NP.

Last night along came 2 more Warlocks, one was ilvl 408 the other 402, but something happened. They tore it up, and we had the same build. Which makes me wonder, what am I doing wrong. I usually do really well with AoE encounters, but single target boss fights, I get past the NP and Tyrant stage and I drop… soooo, was hoping someone might give me some advice or point me to some help.

In single target long fights, do you use implosion or is it best to just build your zoo and let them cast until they fade away?

I am obviously doing something wrong to limit my dps in drawn out fights, so I just want to work on that if I can.

Do you have an encounter log? The discord for warlocks also has a log review channel for these types of situations as well.

Good to know. Thanks!

BTW- I’ve never done an encounter log… just smack training dummies for a set time, or a specific encounter??

Kinda hard to say without zero logs but a 12 ilvl difference between you and the other is rather significant.

A target dummy for 5 minutes or an encounter like terros are the easiest to pick apart. A log from warcraftlogs would be ideal. The in game dps meter doesn’t provide cast by cast breakdown to my knowledge.

NP is all or nothing.

One misclick in the 21-step ramp and your DPS is trash for the next 3 mins.
