Single player game?

If you are still in need of comms at this point in classic I have bad news for you.

Classic communication and all of the other MMO trimmings were really awesome and fun at launch, now the game is just as businesslike and efficient as retail. No one is out in the world because BGs are the best honor and dungeons are the best gold, if you decide to be the sucker who goes out and actually farms runes or something you never see anyone else, even on capped realms.

The sort of MMO experience you are describing here just doesn’t exist.

What you are describing is less of a product of game design and more of a product of the times.

You have to kinda answer this one yourself. Sure, there are reasons to play this game. Whether or not those reasons mean anything to you is completely subjective. I like collecting mounts and pets, leveling alts, and running old content. For me, those are reasons enough to play!

There are reasons to watch football, but I honestly can’t stand it. It’s incredibly boring, there are far too many players on the field, and I don’t like what happens to NFL players as far as the brain damage, problems later in life, etc.

Conversely, I’ve loved NBA for most of my life.

ā€œBut they just run back and forth and back and forth and backā€¦ā€

Yep. :upside_down_face:

This character was my free boost from WoD. Check my battle pets I’ve got the three from the original CE.

What do you mean by ā€œcooperative gameplayā€? You mean forced grouping to do all single player content?

Achievements are account wide not restricted to char and you have 1 curve

I don’t know, Retail still feels like multi-player with all the players running about.

Until the day where i can truly play alone with no other players in my game, i can finally install all the mods that come with single-player games and play it offline, i’m gonna have to disagree with ya.

Yea, and MMO doesn’t mean ā€œbeing forced to group 24/7ā€, it just means ā€œYou have a thousand other people playing with you on a single serverā€.

**Edit: **I thought They displayed by character on the armory… but looking at some of my other newer characters, they do show more achievements than this one, and my older toons are more… selective.

Example: I’ve got Grunty, which is a Feat of Strength from Blizzcon 2009 (The Marine Marine), but not on this toon because she didn’t exist then, (and existed before achievements went account-wide perhaps?) But you can check and see him in my pet collection.

I’ve also got the Violet Proto Drake, but none of the World Event achievements that earn it are showing. But they are just fine on newer toons.

My Stand In The Fire which used to be a Feat of Strength in 2011 when I originally got it from Deathwing killing you in the zone he flew through, on this toon is from 2017 when I went to solo Dragonsoul, (but failed to kill him. Grr.)

Still looking… so weird…

Edit 2: I’ve got several Allied Race alts, (none are capped yet), but even my newest level 20 shows Theramore’s Fall on 9/17/2012, which is when I did it on the one character I did it on, yet doesn’t show on this one.

Weird. But it is what it is.

As for 1 Ahead of the Curve… so? The only reason I’ve got that on this toon, is because I wanted the mount, and a friend had an open slot. I’m not a current content raider as a rule due to the drama, and mostly because not being someone who regularly raids, I don’t want to let everyone down.

I prefer both to be optional and not forced, also cooperation is a significant disadvantage for those who have a short temper.

Thank goodness

Just as in real life, it is horrible to NEED other people but not have them. Soloing in both is MUCH BETTER.

Apparently people have end of expansion amnesia, but there were tons of cooperative moments early in BFA and in WM as well.

As time went on, people branched off to Kul Tiras then Naz/Mech, then got flying and now Forge/Assaults. It’s hard to find groups.

We used to have some epic PvP battles in Drustvar. Groups camping tortollan spots for example.

It’s more SP now. Grinding cloak, Doing assaults for cloak. I can solo Expeditions now.

TL:DR, I’d imagine it’ll be super cooperative at SL launch much like Classic launch. Even in Classic I’ve seen fewer people willing to help or even cast a buff on randoms.

The game isn’t making you prefer anything, people prefer differen’t play styles regardless of what the game throws at them. Times change, people change which in turn affects how they see and play the game.

I love generalised statements like that. Well, not so much. It does happen. It happens to me. If I am only on Classic one or two days are week for an hour or so (which is how I play generally) I don’t have time to get to know people and I’m not comfortable with intruding into conversations with strangers. I’m not anti-social, just slightly on the shy side with new people.

So don’t say it can never happen because it does. Classic is not a perfect social environment because people will always be people whatever the game mode.

There has been plenty of cooperative gameplay throughout the life of WoW, including now. The only thing stopping you from participating in it is you.

Retail, by far

I don’t get what the complaint is.

Retail has a ton more co-op content, especially at end game, than Classic does.

I’m never playing solo on retail, not even for assaults, dailies, Dungeons, raids, always with friends
