Since when is advertising to sell carries in LFG not allowed?

Title.

Got suspended for advertising in the World of Warcraft Group Finder for in-game services like boosts or carries. Evidently you are not allowed to advertise to sell carries for GOLD ONLY anymore? Since when did this change?

I am curious because w hat are you going to do about the million other players that spam lfg/trade chat/general chat about selling mythic + and raid carries as well as mount carries?

I was under the assumption that as long as you aren’t involved in RMT or account sharing selling carries is allowed? Please explain so I don’t repeat this “mistake” again in the future

That would be in July of 2018. The original post belonged to the old forums, but you can find it here:

We have a Support article here:

Overall, advertising carries for gold in public channels is fine, as long as they otherwise adhere to our policies.

Basically, the Looking for Group tool was intended to allow folks to find groups to do activities, quests, dungeons, raids, and they had become inundated with ads from guilds and others who were selling carries. Mostly preventing regular users from being able to easily find groups where they didn’t have to pay an entry fee to do the content.

sure, that’s fair.

But i haven’t played in years I was not made aware of this change. I stopped after legion came out and came back bfa s1 and then stopped after 2 months and just came back a month ago.

This was my first offense ever, an immediate suspension on first offense seems a bit harsh? Do I not get to receive a warning instead? I literally have no prior offenses regarding to advertising beforehand

When the policy change was first introduced there was a grace period, but it has been over two years.

Generally we provide a warning for the first social penalty, depending on what it is. This doesn’t seem to be your first, only your first for this specific category, sorry.

I would highly recommend that you self report your name though, it really isn’t appropriate and if reported by other players can result in additional penalties. Maybe switch to a different character if you continue posting here.
