The only variety in race among the Elves are those that have changed over thousands of years.
Waking up one day and deciding to change your views on the world doesn’t make you a new race.

The reason why Belves got golden eyes in Legion was because they said that it wasn’t enough to change the race and the eye color was not permanent. Player characters feed off mana wyrms and only were exposed to fel stones that were used to power the city.

Amazon UK posted several preview pages from Exploring Azeroth: The Eastern Kingdoms, an upcoming book by Christie Golden. There is one page up that states that “In the end, with their addiction to first arcane magic and then fel energy, and the horrors brought to their doorstep and beyond by Arthas Menethil and the Scourge, the blood elves demonstrated great courage, determination, and strength.”

Yes we know about that book. It’s not written as actual canon to the game. Most books are not.

Well that would explain your posts.
No player blood elf was ever addicted to fel canonically.
They used fel crystals to power their buildings.
These crystals radiated fel which had the effect of changing their eye color due to proximity.
This did not change their race, in any capacity.
Since the Sunwells restoration their eyes are changing from green to blue or gold.
Any high elf in proximity to a magic source of sufficient power will also have their eyes shift.
They are all the same race whether they call themselves High or Blood.
Yeah but this is blizzard we’re taking about.

Oh man, I main tank and support in Overwatch. I both love and hate the game, but I swear it has given me permanent head pain from all the brow furrowing and face palming.
I’m kind of just amused by this phrasing because of the day. I don’t partake, but I got a surprised giggle from this.
I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night so I’m a touch slap happy.
