You’re right. The way people treat anyone in the service industry is gross. But just because its common doesn’t mean its acceptable nor does it mean we should get comfy with it.
However, the CMs job isn’t customer service. They’re there to be a line of communication between the developers and the community. They’re just messengers…and they’re being shot-dead on sight.
Honestly, I do think online gaming is orders of magnitude more toxic now than a decade ago. Obviously on an individual basis, there were massively toxic people in the past…but today its just accepted as the norm, which is sad.
I think Occam’s Razor neatly covers this one. Why have 2 reasons for something when a single reason explains it just as easily?
