Sick of Complaints about PVP ranks

What even are these posts you guys are making? It really doesnt make any sense at all.

You have 2 SIMPLE choices.

  1. “PVP” all day for sake of ranking up. Now this means you will be playing the same meta all day 12 hours a day every day for the next 3 months in order to actually rank up past rank 9-10.

  2. “PVP” inbetween raids for enjoyment the way YOU want to pvp for fun including a wsg match, an AV turtle, AV rush…w/e is your style go play it.

ABSOLUTELY NOBODY PLAYING THIS GAME GETS TO DO BOTH! You simply can not rank up in the pvp ranking system AND enjoy it at the same time. If you don’t like that fact, thats too bad. That is how the system was then, thats how it is now, and that is how 99% of the players KNEW it was going to be.

Is the AV meta boring to do over and over for the sake of ranking? Yes. You know what else is boring? 12 hours of running wsg over and over and over. None of the complainers in this forum will EVER get a high pvp rank and if you really believed you would, you didnt do the research, the math, or were just intentionally naive to think “this time. This time around Ill actually do it”

So, stop adhering to everyone else’s play style if you want to have fun. If you want to rank up it will not be fun it will be a full time job. Get over it or go do another activity in game.

OP is incorrect, my bro has rank 14 in the bag being standing 1 on his server every week. He does PvP and galv/drek rushes. I don’t PvP alot, just got exalted and stopped, but I watch him all the time. Its all about being in premades so you get the best of both worlds.

It would only be a full time job on the servers with multiple competitive premades, shame on us for wanting the pvp system to work how it it actually did in Vanilla where an account sharer solo queing AV took months longer to hit 13/14 than the best premades (while the premades played half the time per day).

Guess you prefer getting rank to be completely based on how much time you que into AV, let’s get rid of all social aspects and skill from the ranking grind and encourage account sharing/ botting/afking on a phone at work by putting 1.11 solo que AV in the game when that was literally only in for about a month before they changed to the TBC honor system YEEEHAAAAA!!

How am I incorrect here? You proved my point. Your brother is going to be the top ranker on his server due to the AV meta and thats what he is playing, and from your post I am assuming the only type of PVP he is playing.

What I am pointing out, is that people are complaining that this is the most efficient/ only method to rank up and people are upset that they can not have their “true pvp” experience.

Its true, Av is the best way to get rank 14. So if you intend on getting rank 14 do AV. Your brother, rushing galv/drek in his premades, is most likely not experiencing too many 1v1 pvp battles or other types of skirmishes that the majority of complainers are talking about. It sounds like your brother is happy with his play style and that is completely fine.

My point is that other people should also go out and play their favorite play style instead of being disappointed that there are players like your brother out there out pvping and honor farming everyone else.

This is so misinformed. Absolutely nobody who hit rank 13/14 played for half the time per day as ANY other player. Just to simply progress from rank 10 at 0% to rank 11 at 0% would require you to be in the top 10 players on your server for the week to progress in one week with the diminishing return. After this stage, there is absolutely no way to combat the diminishing return without playing the most time on your server for the week. Mathematically it is not possible. Rank 13/14 was ALWAYS reserved for players with 12-16 hours a day to pvp and the rare exceptions may have been lower population servers or servers where the top players were colluding to have a R14 rotation.

Come on Glinda you know you are reading them. You know Im reading them. We both are commenting. Dont troll my posts I wont troll yours…

Players grind for XP. Players grind for reputation. Players grind for gold (often to get their mount). Players grind a dungeon to get a specific drop. Players grind for raw mats for professions. In this game, if you want something enough, you grind.

Why on earth would it be different for “pvp ranking”, a system where you are competing with all the same-faction players on your server?

Maybe I should rephrase the part you quoted. “Most players will not find it enjoyable to grind the higher pvp ranks” There are definitely people who enjoy the grind and I think to a large extent most WoW players like a good level grind, gold, grind, etc…

The major difference between the gold, dungeon, level grinds and the PVP rank grind is that the PvP rank grind introduces weekly DRs which eventually eliminate any time left over for any additional activities. Most players who grind gold will eventually take a break. Most players leveling will hit a wall and take a break on an alt. Most players grinding a specific dungeon for one BiS piece will take a break after running it for x amount of times and that dang HoJ wont drop…

In the PvP grind, there are no breaks to the top, there is no rest. If you enjoy that type of grind then the PvP system is for you. If you dont like that type of grind, the type that makes you compete against other no-lifers who are trying to beat you to the top by investing all of their time, then dont do that activity and go do something you enjoy. Don’t pay $15 month and then complain that someone has more time than you do…Go make the most of your $15 and do something you will actually enjoy like a WSG premade with friends and stop worrying about the top ranks.

You are the one who is misinformed, I suggest you learn how the PvP honor brackets work and learn the math behind the system before acting like you are all knowing, you sound like you watched a tipsout guide and now you think you are an expert.

A good premade will at least double the honor per hour of a solo quer, and will easily out farm bad premades who can’t beat other premades as well.

This is currently how it works for alliance. If you aren’t in AV premades you will be left in the dust.

I wish this thread could be posted at the top of the forums

Yeah, Im WELL informed on how the PVP honor brackets work and all of the math involved.

What you are suggesting here is what? A premade wsg in the current meta can out grind honor for a full week over the entire server? 10 players in one premade will be together all week long to ensure those 10 players get the top bracket spots?

Not a single on of those players will take a break? That premade will never encounter another premade? Theres not a second premade group on your server competing against the first?

PVP ranks were always a full time job. You are pretending that some premade can go in and pvp for what 6-8 hours a day and beat a no lifer to the top of the list? Or even that after you do your 8 hours you are guaranteeing that nobody on your server isnt going to play 16 hours in a less efficient manor just to compete with you? Everyone knows that the best way to get ahead in an MMO is to throw time into it. Even if you are a skilled player, you still need to put the actual time in when AV is given out bonus honor like candy. Why is this any different?

I would love to see where you land on your weekly honor brackets and how much time you have to put into it. Im willing to bet you are no where close to the top 100 with that attitude let alone top 10.

The original post was making the point that if you want high ranks, you need to give up a serious amount of time. People don’t like that, dont play an MMO. You cant expect other players to throttle their time just so you can compete towards the same goal.

The difference being that I don’t complain about them.

I just make fun of them.

Thats fair I guess. I just dont understand how all these people assumed they were going to get a high PVP rank…

The servers are massively over populated with thousands of players to compete against and we all knew only a handful of players can occupy the top ranks. So the majority of players complaining about it never had a shot in the first place. So go enjoy the game some other way is all Im saying

I’m suggesting that solo AV (in hordes case) being the best honor per hour is a disgrace to how the honor system worked in Vanilla, and yes good teams would be able to play much less while securing the top brackets unless there were other good teams on the server to challenge them, which I think is a lot more fair than having no social aspect to the system and allowing anyone to push the brackets if they play 24/7 by botting or account sharing (which Blizzard does nothing about until weeks later when players progression has already been hurt).

I think it is completely reasonable for people to be mad at Blizzard for giving us a version of AV that doesn’t represent what it actually was for the majority of Vanilla, and not only is it a bad representation of what AV actually was, but it also completely ruins the ranking grind for people who enjoy PvP and actually playing the game.

Lastly, even though I was against phase 2 because of how toxic it would be, especially with Blizz doing nothing to ensure faction balance on servers before hand, my friends and I only had to play around 12 hours a day 5 days a week to secure bracket 1, now we have to play 17 hours a day 7 days a week because this system is set up so that players with no skill can account share and soak up bonus honor while alt tabbed.
