***Shuddering Hollow Bug Solution***

Get a group with 2-3 tanks to rotate taunts every boulder throw and have enough dps (2-3 minute timer) and viola

at this point Blizz should just give everyone the Gem… this is insane.

Fix this Blizz.

idk about this one. one of the ways i got it done was tanking it in the bottom left cubby and he def charged at me without breaking it.

when/if it “breaks”, have everyone stop dpsing and pull him outside the cave, just taunt spam without dpsing until the objective reappears , then finish it.
i know, easier said then done… most of the time ppl dont think and they keep dpsing him while objective isnt there.

Always has been.

Idk what to tell you, you probably were in a raid group, which not being in is a requisite to get the gem.

The way i see it is simple.

The reset method is just logical, the boss is alive, the objective can’t disappear in the countdown phase. You kill the boss while objective is up, you get the gem.

All the method with some new age tactics : tank it there, no taunt, etc… just doesn’t have any logical explanation behind it. It takes a couple of tries to see that the collapsing of the cave is not correlated with any of the supposed forbidden behaviours of these methods. Like a wise man said, if you keep doing the same things expecting different results, you’re on the verge of collapse

Another solution that I had by accident was literally AFK’ing somewhat outside the hole after killing the boss for about 10 minutes & then randomly received the gem. I’m not joking to waste your time, that’s genuinely how I got it.

I know it’s the holidays, but it’s kind of insane that this has not been hotfixed yet.

It’s really amazing that this is still a problem and deeply ironic that you need to kill this one rare more than once for the citrines that everyone wants. What a troll.

I basically had to wait on my hunter until 5 AM in the morning to have a total of like three people near the cave, asked them to let the event fail (and it did), re-triggered the event, got my pets to aggro the boss and pull it to the cave entrance (cause pet pathing ignores doodad-based collision), everyone stood at the sides of the entrance so the boss didn’t charge outside and reset, we killed it, everyone got their gems.

I have three theories as to what’s happening:
1: The excavation timer is erroneously counting against the bonus event timer.
2: The bonus event timer is erroneously ticking down faster when multiple bonus events are up at once.
3: The bonus event erroneously ends when one of the other bonus events starts/ends/becomes available, provided the excavation timer is not still up.

Fix your stuff Blizz. Come on.

I got it by forming raids to facilitate killing quickly, and we all disbanded at the last second to get credit

Gz

I heard that some people have been able to get it in raid, but I’m pretty sure the safe way is just killing it in party or do what you did.

I was the only one at the event. I started to walk into the cave and before I even pulled the boss it bugged and started collapsing. Doesn’t seem to be an issue with the boss but with the actual event itself

Yes the event bug on a random timer which is probably linked to the server internal clock. One possible explanation would be a bad event loop that trigger a cascade of overlapping resets once the server has been up for a bit of time

You can see that with the animation of the cave entrance collapsing at the initialisation phase; it keeps collapsing at random intervals (probably one of the many loop starts)
It’s pretty common in 3D animation, especially when the trigger is bugged and linked to a network of somekind.

It would be great if hunter and lock pets could not taunt off human tanks. Or the pets should be 1 shot.

I guess its trivial content though and they need those taunts for the open world too. But its just sheer frustration and annoyance trying to position anything with the constant taunting or the most excellent taunts from distance that happen.

Honestly, there shouldn’t be any user generated NPC’s in-game with a taunt ability. If that means fundamentally changing the way BM and whatever spec locks have that uses the blueberry, then so be it. It wouldn’t be the first time a major overhaul of a spec was done.

They’ve mostly solved it - pets have taunt auto turned off when entering instanced content for example. This wasn’t always the case.

This is a very niche circumstance, and there’s abilities besides pet taunt that can cause problems. Heck, just standing in the wrong place is an issue here.

Pet classes like Lock and Hunter have cool unique playstyles, I don’t think we should throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Warlocks and Hunters have been using pets in this game for 20 years. I highly bout removing their taunts, which would DRASTICALLY change both classes game play, is a solution to a single event that’s glitched, and which even turning off pet taunts, which people have done, still doesn’t prevent it from glitching.
