She definitely has a true form we haven’t seen but I think she is older than the Old Gods.

I don’t think she has a physical body of her own.
It seems like she only survived as long as she has because she was imprisoned in the dagger.
And we’ve never seen any indication that she has a “true form”. She’s absorbed so much power and still remains in the body of that dead elf. I don’t think she has a true form anymore. Either that or she doesn’t have the power to change back to it yet

More likely that Xal’atath is a Void Revenant. There have been other Void Revenants in game or in lore. Some names include:
Xal’atoh.
Xhul’horac.
Nhal’athoth.
So to that extent, Xal’atath fits right into the theme and style of Void Revenant names, as well as their goals and methods. But worryingly, Alleria Windrunner consumed an essence of a Void Revenant before she went with us into the 5 man dungeon on Argus; so that essence may still be stuck inside her. Maybe that’s why Xal’atath keeps toying with Alleria and never really tries to destroy her like she did Khadgar? As in, maybe Xal’atath wants to trick Alleria into losing her sanity so the Void Revenant can take over Alleria’s body?

It’d be really funny if Xalatath’s real goals basically consisted of just trying to put together a friends and family reunion trying to reunite with all her void pals
