Should I transfer to an RP Realm?

I mean, maybe if you are talking about rares people don’t really care about. (But again, I see those up plenty often on non-RP realms.) But I can tell you that any time I’m in the Storm Peaks on my Twisting Nether characters, I see so many people from different realms camping the Time Lost proto-drake. (Usually with names that violate RP realm rules — grrr.)

This is good advice. Secrets Discord is an amazing community to be a part of. They do a little bit of every thing.

Well, if you are okay with basically seeing less people everywhere expect main cities, then go for it, but as many have pointed out, if you are not going for the RP experience, it probably won’t be worth it.

This is true. I’m on Feathermoon and you only see others non rp realms if someone is invited in a party or group finder. I have never had an issue with questing, rares or anything with leveling. I’ve been on here since the beginning, 2005.

RP zones are shared within the battle zones that are in their groupings, so you can look at all the different larger groupings for randoms and see which one has fewer RP realms. I know that Ravenholt shards with it’s connected realms (obviously), but also with Emerald Dream.

Come and join us in Moon Guard, my guild is willing to bring in people. If you wanna RP we can always have more people join us, if you don’t know how we’re willing to teach you

Even if you don’t RP, I always enjoyed just seeing how lively the RP worlds are.

Same. I think people on Moon Guard (not the tourist) are generally nice people and like I said before, they don’t seem to care that I don’t RP or have MRP or TRP downloaded.

I hate going to a friend’s realm and seeing stormwind/orgrimmar be totally empty except for the main hub. I love roaming through Org, seeing all the places full of people roleplaying and having fun.

Up 24/7? What game you been playing? And no, they did not lower the respawn timers, or else i wouldn’t have waited 12 hours for Banthalos to spawn only to not be able to tame it. And who said i was going to transfer back? The Hunter rares was an example, i wanted to transfer for ALL rares, and for no competition in anything, Hunter pets or not. Just because you were lucky doesn’t mean they are easy to get. If i transfer realms, it is usually for me planning to stay.

I also like the calming act of relaxing with others out in the world and meeting people outside of a guild, so let’s say if i wanted to settle down in Goldshire to take a bit of a break, i could do that for awhile until I’m ready to start questing again.

Takes patience. Rare’s were never meant to able to get all of them in one day anyways. Heck at onetime some used to be on 24 hour timers to spawn. A lot of the old rares share different spawn points also. Especially in places like Northrend. If you were not at the right spawn point when it did spawn, chances are another hunter, or achievement seeker was going to ruin your day. Part of the game. Molten front you not only battled the spawn timers, you battled other people just killing rares for the measly 25 gold tear they dropped lol. I know I camped the gas cap, and the other 2 spots where Skoll spawns in storm peaks for for around a week before I was finally able to get the tame. Loque was miserable to get. A few weeks of camping for that one. Not a fan of crz either, but yeah it is what it is. It’s possible to get them even with crz. Got the proof in my pet stable. A lot easier to get those rares nowadays than it was when they were on those 24 hour timers, and when those areas were current content. I guess, if you don’t want any competition at all for anything then transfer I guess

I wouldn’t. Your QoL on a regular server is better in just about every way. RP realms still have broken economies and dead trade chat, even after the merges.

Stay where you are, trust me.

wait…wow does not equal life?

I had luck on RP servers before the pre-patch. Now, it seems there are a ton of hunters in both Chromie time and present world camping stuff. If you’re happy with your server, I’d stick with it and just hop CRZ occasionally if you’re able to to check. The only pet I got lucky with was Loque’nahak this week on a new hunter because he seems to be the least camped on Emerald Dream for some reason. I checked on my SO’s acc on the off chance he was up because I’ve been camping since 5am to past the afternoon some days. He was up for at least 20 or so minutes which gave me time to go turn off War Mode and Chromie Time to get him. I tamed him again at his respawn later. In contrast, every other Spirit Beast in WOTLK was camped by 2-5 hunters. On Thrall, nearly everything is camped from 5am to peak time even if it is just one hunter. I can’t speak on MF rares as I’m unlocking that still today but I’ll know soon. I’ve met some nice fellows from CRZ though who wanted to communicate about it.

This. If all you care about is rares, and hunting, maybe. If you care about raiding or PvP, all I can say is make a lowbie and check out some guilds and see what they say. I wasn’t a big fan of the RP server because of how giant some of the guilds are and not understanding their focuses. Alliance side there were several guilds with over 600+ people while Horde had them broken up a bit more due to the populace differences. Overall, right now, I don’t see transferring being more beneficial than playing on your current server. If I remember, Ysera was really low populace before merges - has that impacted it terribly? If anything, you might want to find one that has less CRZ impact at peak time or when you play. I used to pick PST timed servers because, as someone who is EST, logging in at 5am to log into a 2am server leaves some of them dead and prime-time for rares.

I’ve only played on rp servers from the beginning, and wouldn’t consider playing on a normal server. That said, I wouldn’t count on open world rares being up or less camped than anywhere else. After all, I’ve been after TLPD for a decade and have only ever seen his corpse lol.

12 hours on Ban, and you couldn’t tame it? The trick to that tame is to land on the top of tallest tree at the sancturary of malourne, lay a ice trap, mount up, and fly up some, dismount, concussive shot to draw aggro, you will land directly on spot on top of tree, and when Ban flies down, its trapped, then tame. Easy peasy.

Why not just ask blizz to put all the rares in a mailbox for you

I would download them anyways, even if you don’t RP there’s some entertaining stuff you can read in the profiles, both genuinely interesting and creative stuff, and occasionally things that are hilariously awful.

If you’re frustrated and the fee is no problem, then do it. At worst you will be in a similar situation as you are now, but at least you will know for sure.

I’d make a trial character on whichever RP server you are considering, and then go run around during what would probably be peak hours and see for yourself if its busy. However, remember that things may be a bit more dead until the expansion actually hits.

I’ve been pretty lucky with pets on an RP server, but that’s just my experience.
