Play Survival hunter or Demo lock, you’ll be just fine

‘‘They killed MM’’ - 10% DMG removed and 50% nerf of the second Aimed shot. That’s not killing it, this spec was instakilling people.
I’m gonna wait to see how PvP goes but yeah it’s probably time to abandon ship. The problem is that aimed shot is such a long cast it either needs to hit very hard or marksman is basically DOA for arena. That’s just the unfortunate situation that the spec is in.
I don’t get too wrapped up in speeding into end game, so I say, play them all. I had 16 level 50 alts. I kind of ripped the bandaid off and ran them all through the Maw starting quest one right after another to get them at least into Oribos. Now I’m slowly leveling each and finding some surprises along the way. I’m finding that I’m liking some of my mothballed characters better than expected.
It’s not a bad strat. Friends asked me what I was going to main heading into SL and I stated Hunter, duh. I don’t remember a time when at least 1 hunter spec wasn’t at least Atier. Hard to not stick with classes like that.
Play what you find fun and like the best. It’s the best way to have fun. It’s a game it’s supposed to be fun.
druid.
The stealth alone makes it worth it this expansion so far.
You might like Death Knight. All classes are fun in their own right. The only ones I could never really get into are Warrior and Warlock.
how do you know this when the season starts today?
If you enjoy misdirecting to pet in every round of Torghast, then stay hunter.
because thug cleave is literally insane rn. Even beastcleave with convoke can put up serious numbers.
Roll shadow priest if you want to be tanky af and absorb 100k dmg
No you should level another ranged DPS (preferably a warlock) and come join our guild
If you want to try something different without investing a lot of time, try survival. It’s definitely a change from your current spec. I am actually leveling a survival hunter as we speak. Enough of a difference for me to warrant a separate character but you could give it a try just by swapping specs for a bit.
Simple math. My aimed shots with double tap was doing 12k x2 = 24k. If double tap got reduced by 50% then its 12k x1.5 = 18k that is still really good dmg.
Edit: They also nerfed the overall aimed shot by 10% while in pvp so 12k goes to 10,800 x1.5 = 16,200
So from doing 24k aimed shots it goes down to 16,200 which is pretty good for a 1.1 sec cast with trueshot.
I think hunter is good fun, but if something else appeals to you go for it.
If you want to play as dps i recomment
hunter
rogue
mage
warlock
they all have 3 dps specs and typically at least one is always in the A tier per class.
That being said I rolled hunter out the gate for this xpac (never played it before) not knowing mm was gonna be brutal . Even after the nerf ill never main another class. hunters feel dynamic. in pvp I disengage and have a trap tossed out mid flight and get to dump on people. Great fun.
ultimately play what mechanically feels good to you , I find the ability to dps and move as ranged to be wonderful
Morning, Shàrky. Guess that depends on your style of play. PvP? Raids? Mythic+? Solo? I’m a casual player but like to try and keep up via Icy Veins and Wowhead, etc., with the best classes and specs for situational playing. MM is near the top of the charts for damage. My poor little BM hunter is back down in the middle, and sad Survival is down at the bottom thus far. I’ve played happily through lvl 60 and just brought my first alt (Ret Pally) into SL via Threads. Makes me appreciate a ranged class with a smart rotation and a strong Cov ability.
That said, take your hunter through to the end. You won’t know until you try. If you don’t already have some alts, sure, roll a few for the different experience. After I get my ret pally to 60, then comes my resto druid, afl warlock, prot warrior and maybe someday my fire mage. Just… have fun.
Hunter is fine. You can dps at range while on the move as a BM which makes playing it pretty worthwhile.
