Should I just Drop Alchemy?

Is anyone out there making any money with alchemy? I’ve had my alchemy maxed for awhile now and It just doesn’t seem possible, maybe I’m just dumb. I started as xmutes master but after 2 weeks of no procs I switched to pot master, but every pot even haste is a loss and I can’t compete with the bots to farm my own mats Even xmutes are only like 10g profit on a 24 hr cd. Please tell I’m just an idiot so I don’t have to drop a prof and pick up a new one to make money

The only way I make money with Alc is the transmute primal mana to fire…or earth to whatever. 10g/day is about right

A buddy got lucky with a 4x primal might proc, though. May just come down to a lottery ticket with mights

I made 300g in the past few days crafting elixirs.

I discovered a flask of relentless assault today and crafted 2 and got a proc for 1 extra, so made another 70g.

You have to buy mats when theyre cheap and sell the elixirs/flasks when they go up a bit.

FTR 20 hours, but pretty much daily.

If you run multiple alchemists I’d say xmute primal might are an easy win. If I ever do classic again I’m thinking of investing into as many alchs as I can. If you run 5-10 it’s 50-100g profit a day ignoring any procs. If you’re just xmute master on one toon can’t imagine it’s reliable though. I guess if you average a proc a week you might bring in roughly ~160g a week for virtually doing nothing.

Otherwise, elixir master is probably the only way to have a shot at making income. I monitor the AH and have a general idea of what to pay for some herbs and with procs I get some profit if I don’t get lazy with trying to offload supply at a low price. It’s definitely not going to make you swim in money; I just try to buy when herb prices are down, craft, and then sell at beginning of week when prices generally increase.

Edit: if you stay potion you’d probably want to go the super mana pot route. Reasonably cheap to craft and consistent demand for them.

Someones never heard of transmuting the meta gems…

You’ll normally make 20% extra elixirs / pots with those specializations make sure to work that into your crafting at a loss math.

Meta gems and primal mights require investment and are a volatile market.

Usually meta gems go for about 20-30g above mat prices, mights closer to 20g; but it’s possible for these to expand and contract over time and reduce your margin. They also sell more slowly and sometimes need to be relisted to account for market changes.

Earth to water or similar transmutes, on the other hand, are zero risk and pretty much always give you 10-15g selling instantly.

I just do a daily market scan and do my transmute accordingly. I’ve never had any issue getting things sold.

I am lazy and just do primal might xmutes and it always sells in like 5 minutes on relist. I don’t even bother trying to time the market with it.

Yall out here saying 15g per day is good lol.

I won’t tell you that you are an idiot, but you don’t have to switch away from potion master to make money. You just have to be smarter about which potions you create, when you buy herbs, and when you sell the potions.

from the outside looking in, proccing extra sounds absolutely highly profitable without leaving the comfort of orgrimmar.

It was highly profitable early on. The current margin is around 15% on select potions, or 150g profit for every 1000g spent on herbs.

There’s a lot of competition, and prices fluctuate. You can absolutely make gold, you just have to be cognizant of how much you’re paying for prices and offloading can take some time; most of the time I look the crafting cost matches or is a loss against the mats. If you wait for an opportune time to post that’s where you can make your money.
