In point of fact, Xena was not a medieval fantasy. It was an ancient times fantasy.
And how many mail and leather armour sets have long skirts that this is an issue for them?
(However, it should be noted, I would not be adverse to a barbarian look, as it is not modern. I would not want it on any of my characters but having it in-game would not ruin the environment of the game or break my immersion.)
I just googled those exact works on their images page and no, it does not. In fact, out of the first fifty non-pant pics that came up only two even featured short skirts and neither were similar to Tyrandes.

at what point does a super short skirt just become useless? Imo its like wearing pants that are all the way ripped from top to bottom.

Perfect example, the cloth pieces that drop from Antorus, the purple ones, are also a perfect example. Just make it part of the chest, or an addition to the legs like they are now on a very very tiny list of items

I actually unironically LOVE this idea now. I want my mage in a robe and cloak so magnificent that it requires npc’s as part of the model to help carry it behind.

The glorious, emerald and Lofty Plate armor sets exist and they are way more revealing and provocative than any short skirt could ever be. Also, using the rating system as some kind of argument is silly considering all the other serious topics that are covered in the Lore of the game lol.

I don’t know how anyone can still be making the “medeival setting” argument. It was dead when we had motorbikes and helicopters. Once we flew to other planets in spaceships it was dead, cremated, ground to dust and spread across the bow of the Vindicaar.
It’s over. Time to move on.

I get that, though I don’t agree. Even if there was a broader range of styles available it would still be very much a fantasy game (see FFXIV - it’s exactly what you are talking about). The main issue for me is less about the setting, and more that what we have available currently is not only very limited and samey, but it’s also often very ugly.
The wow esthetic seems to require all gear being some kind of heavy metal album cover vision of European medieval-inspired armor. For the Horde it also generally involves adding more spikes. You may think FFXIV goes too far on the variety, but at least it has some.
Pretty much this, it’s been power rangers and slutmogs for a very long time now

Gladiators wear skirts, could be a neat look. Pteruges is what they are called.
A over skirt style could be neat too. Like short skirt armor open in the front with a longer over skirt that covers long down the back.
With the new physics they’ve given armor it would be fun to see moving parts as you run or jump.
Tyrande has a pretty dress that works as her armor just fine without it being too crazy. Nightborne has skirt like bottoms too in suramar.

Ooo… I love tail skirts and bustle skirts!
We do far more skirts in the game, as far as length (from ankle to mini) and style (tight, pleated, side-split, sarongs, etc).
Though I also understand the model meshes need to be updated, since we still use “painted on” armor. I want that dynamic movement when you walk.
My armor right now proves that skirts are possible. Don’t be lazy Blizzard.
I don’t know if my little rainbow heart can handle a panda in a skirt. It would be Xena all over again.
Really though, I would like more styles of skirt in the game.
