I get that. I agree about why people get world buffs too. That’s why I think compulsory is a good way to describe them. Compulsory game play feels bad: its part of why I don’t play retail.
I just think that overall there’s a lot of extra baggage that goes along with it that creates a bad gaming experience. Having world buffs forces a certain play style – like logging out in UBRS the night before to skip the possible epic pvp battle or actively killing the NPC whose supposed to be on your team and supporting the guy who isn’t. Its not fun (to me).
And if world buffs didn’t work in instance, min/maxing would still happen. Bad game interactions from world buffing; however, would go away.
