Reporting systems aren't working

In a lot of my AV games this week there has been a multiboxer running 5 players who sits AFK in the cave or north of SPGY all game. I’ve reported them several times, both AFK and botting, and I’ve had every guildie I’ve played with this week do the same. Many players call this person out in chat and they respond by bragging and taunting everybody else.

This person will hit R14 week.

Even if Blizzard bans these accounts next week, stripping them of their R14 status, they have spent a minimum of 8 weeks taking 5 slots away from players who would actually play. For someone to make it this far it’s clear, Blizzard’s reporting systems are not working.

I think unfortunately might be happening is the botters have multiple accounts they are boosting, say five of them, they then cycle through each of these accounts where they are actively being played every few games, as I know while doing AVs I have seen several people that never leave the cave, then every so often I will find them actually playing.

Agree something needs to be done though, I mean anyone in the cave for 90% of an AV should simply get no Honor, or if they are out in the BG, but simply running in place.

Personally am hoping this is an area where we see AI come into place as it’s the perfect mechanism to identify and track behaviors which are bot like, then if a players is identified, they can be either scrubbed back to rank 0 or banned permanently from BG depending on the severity of information gathered.

That might be a good way to fly under the radar. This particular person isn’t doing that, as far as I can see. They were in at least 8 of my games yesterday.

Man, agreed. It shouldn’t be that hard. We shouldn’t even need…

… stuff like this, though I also agree that this is the future. Valve did stuff like this for anti-cheat and, at least the last time I played, it was fairly effective at identifying cheaters and keeping them separated from you. I haven’t played in some time though, I’m actually trying to distance myself from CS2 (due to the gambling controversy).

Unfortunately I don’t think Blizzard will do this. They seem to have a massive reluctance to invest in this version of the game. I suspect they look at the player count and say , “Oh, well why spend money on this version of the game, nobody is playing it?” Which then leads to more people leaving and compounds the problem. Meanwhile, they’re forgetting how massive it was in 2019 through 2021.

A little investment and dilligence to the original design principles would pay off in spades.
